I've left the tree up, but removed thr window lights, ornaments etc. A few friends are calling me a humbug, I love christmas but started to feel a bit boxed in! DH agreed it feels more relaxing now :)

Anybody else done the same?

Mine are down too. 3 under 3 plus Christmas decorations is just a disaster waiting to happen.

I've taken down one tree (of 5!) in the study and the lights and stuff around the kitchen and hall

I've kept the real tree in the living room because we are away from tomorrow until Friday and I don't want it rotting on the driveway - I'll take it to the tip Sat

I've kept the living room lights because I like them - and the kids have their little trees - I'll sort it all Sat

I love Christmas but more than happy for decorations to come down today. If I had the energy I would have taken them down this eve

Mine are coming down tomorrow, I've got a 10 month and a 2.9 year old and all the toys and clothes were put away today.
I adore the run up to Christmas and the day itself but everything looks sad once the big day is over.

I love how big and clean the living room looks too once they've been packed away.

All mine came down this evening! The house feels so spacious and airy now!

I'm a big fan of Christmas but I don't like the decorations going up too early and I could happily take everything down on the 27th. DH wants us to keep it all up until new year.
It's like that book A Squash and a Squeeze, once you've taken all the cards, decorations and tree down, you appreciate all the space you've got in your house.

Definitely NBU. Mine are still up but will be down tomorrow or Tuesday. The rule in our house is when the baileys is finished, christmas is over. I love the build up to Christmas but hate starting the new year with the decorations still up.

We have only had the Christmas tree up, and one set of lights in the front window.

If I could sneakily put them all away tomorrow then I would. I think they will definitely be gone by New Year though. I just leave them out for a few days because my DDs like it.

Left to me, they might go up on Christmas Eve and come down on Boxing Day, if at all. I guess I might just creep into the Christmas humbug category.

Mine are gone. I love decorations before Christmas but can't be doing with them afterwards. I do accept that when DD is older I'll have to endure them til New Year's Day but no longer, never!

Well thank god for that. I really thought I was been harsh as I have two boys and wondered if I was spoiling things for them. I will leave tree up till 30th then see in the new year with lots of space ahhhh.

My living room feels lovely and spacious now, all the presents, treats and new clothes are away and I feel better for it!

God! I think MN is a parallel universe sometimes to the world I love in...I was reading threads at the end of November / first week dec with people putting up decorations. I cannot imagine taking ours down yet. But they only went up a week ago. I think there is nothing cozier than the wind and rain howling outside and the fairy light and candles thinking inside like a hobbit home! We still have a weeks holidays and I will enjoy each day with the decorations and take down in early Jan. Would seem ALL wrong to take them down today!

YANBU. I'm looking forward to getting rid of ours on Jan 1st. After Christmas day the tree just gets in the way...Ours is too close to the radiator, so looking a bit droopy...

Ours went up last weekend (though I do the window decs a but earlier).

They'll come down after New Year.

Ours only went up 4 days ago, and will be staying put until Twelfth Night.

I've never seen the point in cutting short a festival!

(unless there's a family birthday and you want to separate the events visually)

I wish I could get OH to agree with you. He loves having the tree up. It will only come down next Sunday, if I really push him otherwise he waits until the 6th.

I'd happily put it up Christmas eve and take it down boxing day!

Ours will come down on Tuesday or Wednesday ,depending on the weather and what else DH is doing as he is taking them down . Thursday we are taking down my mums outside display as we have a busy weekend and are not leaving them to the weekend after .

We've had ours up since the start of Dec, so we've had plenty of enjoyment. I've only ever kept it up.until Twelfth Night because I was superstitious....I don't like having the tree after Jan 1st...

Ours is coming down tomorrow (much to the horror of DC and DH). It's been up since the 1st. I am completely bored of it now, no one turns the lights on and it's taking up all the space. I love the way everything feels cleaner and bigger with the decorations and tree gone!
