There is a new chemical that the government seen to be hiding from us - dihydrogen monoxide. Not many people seem to have heard of it but it is widely used.

Why do they always hide this sort of thing from us. See the website below for more information.

If it's got its own website it's not very well hidden, is it?

I have heard of this before, I think it's OK if watered down,my DH insists on adding it to Whisky though.

This has been around quite a while now. Still, explains a bit to people who claim there are "chemicals"in their food.

Very dangerous in large quantities. Say, a lake, or a pond.

It's not a joke it's a dangerous substance.

People have died from accidental inhalation of the liquid form.

Prolonged contact with the solid form of DHMO can cause irreparable tissue damage.

The liquid and gas forms can both cause severe burns.

Despite this the government allow copious amounts of it to be contained in our water supply, made available to children in schools etc

There's an even worse chemical called O2, you can't even see it, it gets everywhere, and everyone who ingests it dies . . .

Report
notquitehuman · 25/12/2015 21:04

It can kill you if you drink a few litres in one sitting. Beware!

Fortunately, the body has a well-established mechanism for passing it out of the body.

It's websites like this that make you wonder whether computers and the internet were such a good idea after all.

on the contrary - while people still get scared about 'chemicals' and believe that 'natural' is harmless, there is EVERY need for this kind of thing!

Report
DinoSnores · 25/12/2015 21:27

My DS's school practically forces it on them. I think it is terrible.

(I got banned from a FB group for pointing out that "chemical free shampoo" wasn't chemical free if it contained borax, salt etc and that everything was a chemical!)

BlackeyedShepherdsbringsheep · 25/12/2015 23:46

oh bloody hell. I have a glass containing both those chemicals, though the O2 is diluted a bit with another deadly chemical CO2 which in large quantities asphyxiates you. and N2 doomed I tell you, doomed.

It can, in small amounts, be made safer by dilution with Ethylene Hydroxide, C2H5OH

Report
knobblyknee · 26/12/2015 02:40

Everything is contaminated with it, there is far too much in my glass right now. I can see some of it floating in big lumps at the top.

OP YANBU, it's shocking stuff.

We actually had something that looked very like it fall from the sky in this area today, I had to cancel our plans to go for a nice walk.

What's that all about?! Shock

If you accidentally consume it then it can actually seep out through your skin!

This has to rate as the best school science day project ever.
