To bloody colds!

Spent last night in bed, one minute red hot and sweating, the next shivering. Hardly had any sleep and I looked like a walrus with tissue stuffed up both nostrils due to the fact my nose wouldn't stop running. I've had to cancel a facial tomorrow morning because I don't think the poor beautician would be happy me coughing and sneezing all over her and it's my god daughters nativity in the afternoon which I might end up missing. It's only a cold but what is the bloody point of the gritty ditty things? [

I'm with you. I started one last Tuesday, got next to no sleep tues or weds night, had to go to DS1's school play on Weds eve (OK, I didn't have to but still) - admittedly I still thought it was hayfever until weds pm though, as I'd had that really badly the previous 3 weeks. Didn't realise it had neatly segued into a cold as well, oh joy!

Had DS1's birthday party on Saturday, with the cold but it was all outdoors and MIL did most of the food; I largely stayed out the way. Actually thought it was going! Didn't feel too bad through DSs' end of year dance concert either...

So wrong. Last night - breathing ok, though still couldn't lie flat; this morning - nose bunged up, high up. It's now gone into my sinuses. RH side only, and it's affecting my teeth - they hurt when I blow my nose.

I also have a ripped calf muscle and mostly want to cry, especially as DH is away now for 2 nights as well. :(

Yes, DS2 gave it to me. He has a minor sniffle and has had a wee bit of non-painful laryngitis, by the sound of his voice; but it's a Lot Worse now I have it. Probably because of the already irritated mucous membranes from the hayfever! SO SO grateful for Kleenex aloe vera tissues or my nose would be shredded by now. (I say Kleenex, because I've tried cheaper ones, and although they're better than non-aloe ones, Kleenex are way better)

Calf isn't nice - I felt it twang when I was trying to stop a full shopping trolley escape into the carpark - hauling it back to the path and "snap!" Instant pain and hobbling. Went to GP - definitely torn it, need an ultrasound to check how badly and also for venous integrity (how good my veins are) and spent all weekend NOT resting it like I was supposed to which is probably why it hurts like a git now.

I am fucking fed up of this cold. 32 weeks preg. Massive PGP. Huge baby. And now my head feels like it is going to explode. Can't breathe.

Oh God I do so feel for you pregnant coldies! Soooo much worse when you can't take anything for it, I'm dosed up to the eyeballs with nurofen and antihistamines, and some codeine-based cough linctus as well. I'm probably a bit of a pharmaceutical timebomb, but with DH away tonight and tomorrow night, I've just got to keep going, so drugs wahey!

Have you tried steam inhalation, Boosie and Goodnight? You can't even use eucalyptus/olbas oil, I don't think, but at least the steam would help. And maybe a saline nasal spray?
