To think the government should prioritise organisations like these

My mother is the manager of a government funded counselling and help service for female survivors of sexual abuse. The counsellors themselves are volunteers and my mum doesn't get a high wage. It is the only place like it in my town and the offices that they are in are shocking. Single glazed smashed windows, no central heating (was meant to be fixed but don't have the funds), the kitchen has fallen through. It is a cold and uncomfortable environment in a busy and noisy area of the town centre. If I was a scared woman coming here for help it would be awful. I feel the government should put more funding into organisations like these, women should not be forced to go through the experience of discussing such a terrible time in an environment like this. They should have a nice, warm and safe atmosphere. It is a well known organisation too.

You're right. But that might not happen. Can she appeal to another organisation for use of their building?

What other sources of funding do they get? It might be worth applying to appropriate charities for one-off funding to eg fix the windows, central heating and kitchen. (Do they own the building? Might be better to sell and relocate elsewhere in town.) Could they recruit a volunteer fundraiser?

Yes, they probably should get more funding, but everything is cut, cut, cut these days.
