Okay, I know I am probably way out of touch.

But really, what do people watch on youtube? Is it really not just ugly cats dancing?

Any recommendations?

People upload all sorts - you can watch old episodes of Catchphrase, classic movies, cookery programmes, highlights from last week's Daily Politics, classic Steve Martin stand ups, interviews from Parkinson in the 70s, anything at all. Honestly it's like saying "I don't get telly, what's that all about".

Just type in any random noun or celebrity into the search box.

Music is my YouTube thing.
No matter what it may be I can listen to hours of anything I care to think of and even find new music.

But why would you want to do any of that? have just watched the episode of Neighbours when Scott and Charlene got married.

So what's with the mn channel and Jamie Oliver channel? Are there just loads of links to click on or is there a schedule like normal tele?

spad Jamie Oliver has quite a few channels, the main food tube, drinks tube, and family food tube and each has a regular schedule. It's basically like snippets of his cookery shows but all of the recipes are separate.

If you 'subscribe' to a channel whenever you login it gives you a selection of videos that have been uploaded from those channels so you can choose what you want to watch. It's all about what you like - music? Cooking? Crafts?

I love YouTube. Music videos, ASMR to help me sleep, cooking tutorials, old xfactor auditions, Stampy and science stuff for DS. What's not to like?

YouTube taught me how to cook delicious meatballs. It also taught me how to fix our central heating when it just died in the middle of winter. I bloody love it.

Well yesterday lunchtime at work I was carrying two mugs on a little tray, they were clattering and I made a joke that it was like the Julie Walters "two soups" sketch. Some people hadn't seen it so I pulled up youtube on my iPad and we all watched it and had a good laugh. Then everyone was remembering sketches they enjoyed and we spent a happy half an hour watching old comedy clips that a few years ago would have been lost in the mists of time. Youtube is great!

I use it for music, tutorials/instructional videos, work, cooking, just random bits and pieces. There's something for everyone. It's very useful.

Also for the kids it's great, loads of educational stuff and helpful videos about applying to uni etc.

I have used Youtube for tutorials on how to do some arcane bits of knitting - using magic loop, and doing Kitchener stitch, and to teach myself how to crochet granny squares.

I watch lots of recordings of choirs doing pieces that I love - or that I am doing with my choir, so I can sing along at home (and get a bit of extra practice in).

Ds has a video of him doing tricks on his bike - it's years old, but I still enjoy watching it from time to time.
