Here for traffic. Can I ask, if you love your job, what do you do (role/industry/company even!)? I don't know a lot of people who like their jobs so would love to hear of some people that do! What is it about your job that you like?

Am currently a social work student.

Previously a DV support worker, stint working in refuge followed by a community based post. I adored it. I had a great deal of autonomy in managing my own caseload and a fantastic, hands off manager. I loved watching the progress of service users from initial engagement, through a variety of programmes, watching them rebuild. I loved the court work, both criminal and family. I loved the multiprofessional work, attending MARACS and child protection case conferences(which led me to my new career in social work). In refuge, I loved chilling out with residents over a cuppa, learning about their lives, seeing the difference that a place of safety made. I worked with a lot of 'complex needs' service users - mostly substance misuse and mental health issues - and I relished the challenge that brought.

It wasn't without challenges and frustrations, not to mention distressing aspects, but it was hugely rewarding.

Love mine. Marketing manager with lots of autonomy. Used to be in sales and enjoyed that too but glad not to have that constant pressure any more!

Also work 10 mins from home now so no commute.

I was a CP Social Worker before I went into teaching. I'm now an HT and have been for 14 years. I love my job mostly. The only downside is some parents a few drive me to wine

I am an Occupational therapist. I have worked for 26 years and loved every post I went in to. It is great to be able to enable people to be as independent as they can be and to stay in their own homes for as long as possible.

Auctioneer. Love the items I specialise in, love researching unusual pieces, love dealing with buyers and sellers, love auctioneering and the buzz of auction day. Everything about the job really suits me.

I'm a Social Worker and I really enjoy my job. I'm part of a great team, and every day is so different that I can't imagine ever being bored at work.

Some parts are very upsetting, and overall it is very stressful, but being able to have a positive impact on the lives of the people I work with is so rewarding.

I'm a violin teacher, best job ever! I love seeing the children and hearing their news. We have a laugh. I feel privileged that they entrust me with their learning. I love the concerts and exams etc, from the nerves beforehand to the euphoria afterwards! I'm constantly impressed that children commit to this difficult thing, in a world full of instant gratification. And seeing their progress is great. In the words of one of my youngest pupils, it's the funnest thing ever Smile

Mind you, the pay is beyond shit, and don't get me started about the parents......... Grin

I'm a travel copywriter. Research and write the creative copy for holiday brochures, plus source the images too. Can be somewhat tedious at times although very rewarding when it's printed and I'm holding the glossy fruits of my labour in my hands. Plus over the years I've had some brilliant travel opportunities. That said, I want to give it up and train as Teaching Assistant but fear I'm too old now.

I'm an accountant. It can get quite interesting but mostly dull in the everyday work and fairly pressured. Pressured, dull work with little autonomy isn't great for motivation! It has little impact on anyone's actual lives either. Those that are in my department at the moment, most are looking to leave once qualified or notice already handed in or moan generally :( most of my clients don't seem that happy either tbh! It's nice to hear of positive stories. I'm surprised there are so many social workers, aren't you all overworked?? At least you have a real impact on society I suppose. That would count for a lot.

Social worker with adults, mainly elderly with dementia but pretty much any adult except moderate - severe learning disability or severe mental health. Can be sad and very stressful but overall I really enjoy it, find it very rewarding and worthwhile. I'll never be rich doing it but I don't dread Monday's other than the early alarm!

Social work has changed a lot since I left. I used to carry a caseload of 56 CP cases, that's why I changed career. I felt I couldn't give the appropriate support needed with my caseload. There was a lot of long term sickness in my team due to stress as well. I'm in a much less stressful job now but I work a 60+ hour week most term time weeks. I have a large school though (460 pupils at school and 130 nursery children).
