To think this article on being more understanding of new mums confuses the issue by mentioning Primark breastfeeding woman?

Obviously society in general should be more supportive of breastfeeding mothers and although good points are made in http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/oct/04/breastfeeding-is-hard-so-we-should-be-softer-on-mothers?CMP=twt_guu_ this article]] I think the journalist would've been better off not mentioning Caroline Starmer. I have breastfed, I have friends who have breastfed and yes, at times it was tough. Some of us had PND but none of us ever made up malicious and racist lies. It wasn't the first time she'd done something like this, though tbh Free to Feed must take some responsibility for the furore too as their actions didn't help.

Eva Wiseman, the journalist who wrote the piece has written eloquently on feminism in the past but I find this whole "feminism means we must be supportive of other women no matter what" thing not very feminist, as it almost infantilises women and absolves them of responsibility for their own behaviour. When Samantha Brick wrote that article about how good looking she was and, predictably, drew the ire of the Internet, there were several articles written about how she had been set up etc and we should feel sorry for her. Ignoring the fact that she'd written several articles for them previously and surely knew what she was getting herself into? In Caroline Starmer's case she had previous form for this behaviour and claiming she must have mental health issues (when so far there has been no evidence of it) is a bit insulting to those who do have MH issues and manage to go about our days without making up lies.
