AIBU?

Smoking Drugs in the Garden.

Ok I need advice and honest opinions but I don't need a pile in Sad

I have a medical condition (lifelong) and my current flare up has come at the worst time and is a bad one.

I hate taking tranqs or morphine, I have no function on tranquilisers just sleep and I spent a few years addicted to heavy pain meds.

I have sourced some cannabis and have been discreetly smoking it to try and manage.

My AIBU is this

I smoke in our garden between the fence and shed approx 30 meters away from the houses but I'm bloody terrified a neighbour will report me!

I can understand if they did, they have 2dc under 10.
I'm doing my utmost not to be obvious and I'm avoiding their dc (school time and an early bed mean I have plenty of undisturbed time) so I'm not concerned that they are breathing smoke but people rarely know the whole story they could just report.

Am I being a ninny, would you report me if you were my neighbour?

I think most people either wouldn't care or wouldn't mind enough to do anything about it. My neighbours smoke (they're discreet but smoke outside and their whole garden is visible from mine). They have kids and so do I. I don't mind, I think - and hope - that attitudes are changing towards smoking.

Can you not get the medicalised cannabis? My Dad has MS and gets it on prescription.

My neighbours teenager smokes drugs in their shed sometimes and It doesn't bother me, but it's only a couple of times a week.

If it was all the time I wouldn't probably report them but three really isn't anything anyone would do anway. The police wouldn't be interested and neither would your landlord most likely.

Do you know your neighbours well enough to explain the situation? If my neighbour explained that to me I would have no problem with it.

What medicalised cannibis? Sativan the nasal spray is only licenced and tested for treatment of MS as far as I know.

It used to annoy me when my neighbour had parties and smoked in the garden, because it was non stop and with small gardens it wafted in through the window. Even so, I didn't report. If you're 30 meters away at the bottom of the garden and not when my kids are out and about I couldn't care less.

We are on speaking terms but I don't know them well enough to blurt it out and don't trust myself not to be a knob and plead with them not to tell Blush

My DP has just gone away for work and won't be back before (hopefully) this spell passes or I would task him with bringing that chestnut up in convo!

I would t report you and I doubt the police would have much of an issue if they did.

No, I wouldn't report you.

My adult DSD, on the rare occasions when she come to stay, wants to smoke a spliff sometimes - we just ask her to smoke in the garden - it's a very small garden with neighbours all around! (I am a cigarette smoker.)

And one of our NDNs has a spliff-smoking friend, who also smokes in their garden. We can smell it sometimes, but, quite frankly we don't care. It's none of our business.

I'm middle-aged and guilty of listening to smooth fm but apart from that we are pretty boring neighbours in general.
We own our house as do neighbours so no landlord to worry about but now I'm worried they could report to the council!

Argh I wish I wasn't such a wimp and could bring it up.

Tbh. I lived above a flat whose occupants smoked weed occasionally on the balcony, and it did bother me. It makes you feel lightheaded, and also it's not a nice smell. I would ask the neighbours if they notice you smoking in the garden (I wouldn't mention that it's cannabis). If they say no, go ahead. But it gives them the opportunity to raise any problems they might have (it might be hard for you to judge whether it's smellable from their house or not). I do think that if it were bothering them then it would be better to do it indoors.

Goodness no, i wouldn't report. In fact our neighbours do smoke weed, and sometimes the smell wafts over which can be annoying but I'd never report them.

FWIW, If you were my Neighbour, I wouldn't report you! God no.

Someone using cannabis to ease symptoms of an illness, is far different from some aging hippy having parties in his garden which my old NDN did all the bloody time Angry

relax, I don't think you need to worry x

Make it up into biscuits and then nobody ever need know .... Alice B Toklas used to do that in the 1920's before it was made illegal.

Is very sensible and a good plan, you should do this.

My thought is that I don't particularly like the smell of cannabis, and I def wouldn't want my DD breathing it in (so be aware of open windows in the summer). Personally, I'd never report anyone for this, but some people ARE very anti-drugs, so I would be cautious about mentioning it to people you don't know.

No I wouldn't report you

But even if your neighbour did, the police do fuck all about personal use anyway. They just don't have the time, resources or I imagine the inclination to bother with someone smoking a few joints.

What you need is a herbal vapouriser. Very discreet, doesn't damage your lungs like smoking, easier to control the dose than if you were ingesting it.

I am conscious that because my illness is a hidden one I will be judged as recreational.

Thanks Plenty I've had to learn about the dark .net to buy my cannabis so I can check there for herbal vapes and VoD I shall look for this crush too.

It's embarrassing to admit that I'm not coping with this Blush

TBH cannabis use is so common, most people will not judge at all (other than the pearl clutchers on certain websites)

My neighbour does it all the time, the only reason it bothers me is because I really don't like the smell, and he does it right on the patio - a few times the smell has wafted in through my little boys bedroom window and that has really pissed me off, because I think it's inappropriate and inconsiderate. If he did it at the end of the garden where the smell would be less intrusive, I wouldn't have a problem, especially it it were for therapeutic purposes.

I wouldn't report you, my neighbours have a smoke in the garden and often have friends round having a smoke. My Mums neighbour grows his own, in his garden and my parents know and are okay with it.
