AIBU?

to be worried about Islamic State terrorists sneaking in with the refugees/migrants?

Surely this is a risk with such large numbers?
Although if it was then presumably more effort would have been made to screen the incomers when they first arrived in Hungary.
Is there some kind of screening/surveillance going on that we don't know about?

Yes - the same thought occurred to me

I doubt they'd sneak in after spending months in a camp - they'll fly in with fake passports and money

Surely members of ISIS would be able to get transport? I doubt very much that they would risk life and limb, mainly walking all that way just to have a chance at a spot of terrorism.

I'd have thought if you wanted to launch a terror campaign in western Europe, you'd get on a plane, not risk your life on a boat that probably won't get you there. Or recruit someone home grown which seems to be what has mostly happened.

A well-funded organisation like ISIS doesn't need to risk the lives of its operatives on non-seaworthy boats that sink in the Med, or have them spend weeks walking to Germany via Hungary. Surely they can just get on a plane?

The vast majority of illegal immigrants to the UK arrive via Heathrow.

YABVU and you haven't thought this through.

YABU. As has been said before, IS are well organised and well funded. Dying on an inflatable inner tube en route to a refugee camp isn't what gets them their virgins.

Don't use it as excuse to not support the refugee effort.

3 out of 4 of the July 7 terrorists were born in the Uk. The other was born in Jamaica. Stopping ordinary Syrians from coming won't make us immune from terrorism.

Yabu as pp have made valid points. And if they did get here safe and sound with NOTHING then what do you think they will do ? These people are risking the lives of their most precious children, they need to be helped not treated as suspected terrorists Angry

reality that article is risible. It's completely unsourced and not backed up by any evidence. Anyone with the critical reasoning skills of the average Y7 student should be able to see straight through it.

Yeah, because the Express is always a reliable and truthful publication when it comes to these matters. Hmm

Let's all start scaremongering.

Seems there are quite a few UK citizens who have either gone or are trying to get to Syria to join with ISIS.
We seem to be trying to stop our own home grown ISIS supporters from leaving!

Really? The Daily Express? Bahahahaha

Really, Reality, you're scraping the barrel now. We all know you hate refugees and asylum seekers, and your many posts on this issue reveal you to be devoid of human empathy, but you really should at least try to find reputable sources for your hateful opinions.

Well they did threaten to do that didn't they? We have quite a lot of homegrown terrorists though...

I'm more worried about homegrown terrorists and the numbers of people already dying trying to cross, and dying in ISIS territories.

Thanks all, am feeling reassured, glad I asked and pleased that IAMBU Smile.
Although hugely offended at being accused of reading the Daily Express because I most definitely don't.

I thought they're currently going through great trouble to sneak into Syria?

Report
KanyeWestPresidentForLife · 06/09/2015 12:10

Oh come on. Why on earth would ISIS send people on a plane with a fake passport?

If you were a terrorist trying to sneak in, what would you do? Would you get on a plane where every person coming in was recorded, their identity confirmed and their documents scrutinised? Or would you blend in with a mass of people who are entering Europe without anybody confirming who you are, where you've been, what you're doing here, where you're going and what your carrying?

Anybody who doesn't think it provides the perfect cover for ISIS to enter Europe is deluded.
