Disappointed in former Disney stars

Nick Jonas has ditched his purity ring, talked about snagging miss universe and now dances fully clothed (including a jacket) with girls in underwear.

Selena gomez poses in her underwear and latest song keeps singing "I just want to look good for you" like she's some pretty possession.

Miley has made over 150million and all she does these days is wear very little and keep going on about how many drugs she has.

All made their fame and fortune from Disney. Wish they would withold payment for several decades until they are forgotten so they keep up the image and don't regress in to sexy, drug fueled numpties. So many people are desperate to sign up for fame it wouldn't stop anyone.

Snagging ha that's probably less crude!

I think as children and teens their lives are controlled by Disney, managment, parents and the first opportunity they get they fall off the wagon - Brittany Spears is another example.

tethersend · 05/09/2015 08:39

And that Snow White, always on the sauce. One man was never really going to be enough for her, was it?

Last time I saw her, she was starting a fight at the Bingo.

Very sad.

Sighing · 05/09/2015 08:40

Disney is hardly squeaky clean. They're message is very much objectifying pretty girly princesses. No matter what "modern" efforts they try. Does it matter? Don't watch / buy that crap.

Cerseirys · 05/09/2015 08:43

Here Biscuit

SaucyJack · 05/09/2015 08:45

I don't think the former Disney stars are much different to any other bunch of teenagers, except that they do their teen rebellion stage in front of the world's media.

OK, I've never twerked a middle-aged sleazeball, but I'm sure if the paps had been following me around during my teens they'd find plenty to humiliate me with in later life.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 05/09/2015 08:48

These were children thrust into the spotlight by ambitious parents and tightly controlled, no wonder they blow when they're no longer under orders.

Lindsay Lohan
Macauley Culkin
Britney.

Too much too soon.

goblinhat · 05/09/2015 08:49

And is disney princess is such a healthy role model. Hmm

Annwfyn · 05/09/2015 08:50

Yeah! Goddamnit! Why won't those kids accept they were sold to Disney as children fair and square and should live their lives according to the Disney code for evermore.

YABVU. Even celebrities get to grow up, mess up, experiment with who they are. I think it would be really creepy if they stayed manufactured and clean cut for life.

googoodolly · 05/09/2015 08:56

While they're contracted by Disney, they have to behave in a certain way to sell their products and to keep their show.

I imagine it must be pretty liberating to leave Disney and be able to do what they want for once.

Cerseirys · 05/09/2015 08:58

It's nothing new OP. Back in the day, stars like Judy Garland were contracted by the studio to make several films a year (Stars these days now make a film a year on average) and there was a strict behavioural code. And we all know how things turned out for her...

MrsGentlyBenevolent · 05/09/2015 09:05

Seriously, you're suprised? This has been the case for generations. The bigger they build them, the further they have to fall. Even if it's not your 'thing', there's an episode of South Park that explains how society/media treat these young women (it's years old, and freakishly predicted Miley Cyrus to be next to 'fall from media grace'). Oh, with the exception of Pink, who has always managed to be a great performer and role model for young people.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 05/09/2015 09:05

They have just swapped one form of objectification for another haven't they.

Tiredemma · 05/09/2015 09:05

I was hoping to see some naked pics of Zak Efron on this thread.

Damn.

Lightbulbon · 05/09/2015 09:13

It's the child star curse.

I hate Disney but it's not just a phenomenon amongst Disney kids.

There are so few ex child stars who aren't f*ed up. Mayim Bialik & Sara Gilbert spring to mind.

Cerseirys · 05/09/2015 09:16

Jodie Foster is another. And Shirley Temple. And the latter was probably the biggest child star in film history.

ToadsJustFellFromTheSky · 05/09/2015 09:30

Selena gomez poses in her underwear

Oh the horror Shock.

Wink

cantgonofurther · 05/09/2015 09:30

Emma Watson too.

The disney twins from suite life have gone to college.

ToadsJustFellFromTheSky · 05/09/2015 09:32

Seriously OP, what's your opinion of Demi Lovato? She was a Disney star and I know she has had her fair share of problems but she seems to have turned her life around. I'd be curious to know what you make of her.

Lurkedforever1 · 05/09/2015 09:32

I actually think the whole Disney thing is why. Miley Cyrus did release a few songs as Miley, but nobody took her as anything more than 'teenage Hannah Montana'. To a large extent someone like her has to over exaggerate the fact they aren't a cute 12yr old to be accepted as an adult. I'm not agreeing with the lengths some go to, but I can kind of see why they are inspired to rebel.

Some of the less well known child actors don't go off the rails. Can't remember names but some of the ones from bugsy, Annie etc seem to have remained normal.

Natalie Portman afaik never did either, but then again she was never in the nicey nicey roles in the way britney etc were.

mrsgently yy re pink. If dd starts getting interested in media role models I'd love another one like her to be around.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 05/09/2015 09:37

Purity rings are a bloody ridiculous idea.

I always wonder what happens behind the scenes to these kids. I bet it is a paedophiles delight in that industry

MothershipG · 05/09/2015 09:43

I'm not disappointed in them, I feel sorry for them in many ways. They may be rich and famous but they have had their childhoods and privacy taken from them in payment.

It was a bit of a Faustian deal when they were too young to really understand what they were getting into.
