Not the way some people shop.

Lots of people will buy them now and eat them now, rather than at Christmas.

I guess they need to get rid of last year's stock.

Mintyy · 03/09/2015 21:45

Yanbu.

And very very silly people will buy those tins of chocolates and eat them all by the end of next week, and buy another tin ... and another ...

Our local Dobbies has had the Christmas Yanke Candle display out since the beginning of August. I have boycotted the place for the summer.

Co-Op near us has mince pies and Celebrations boxes already. Utter madness.

HelenaDove · 03/09/2015 21:46

Our local Tesco had the Roses Heroes etc tubs out last week. Why do they do this before they even put the Halloween stuff out......oh wait marketing.

YABU

If the shops don't put there xmas stock out now then how on earth are they going to be able to display the easter eggs on boxing day. Wink

WorraLiberty · 03/09/2015 21:49

I think it's supply and demand though really.

I know tons of people who start thinking about Christmas, as soon as they've finished school uniform shopping.

Lots of Christmas threads over the last 2 weeks kind of proves this too.

Monkey533 · 03/09/2015 22:00

This is so that when we are actually around the corner from Christmas they can sell the same product at the "sale" price. (There are rules saying that the discount must be off a price that the product was sold for for a certain amount of time first.)

HelenaDove · 03/09/2015 22:00

You want to know what im thinking about Worra? What brand new winter coat im going to get as the red one i took to the charity shop back in May was too big for me now as is the purple one hanging in my wardrobe. I have a houndstooth jacket which is a perfect fit but i need a full length coat. cassis (claret red) is this winters colour apparently. Grin Fuck the sweets!!!!!!!!!

YABU

I love to start my Xmas shopping now so sep is the perfect time for things to be in the shops as far as I'm concerned. It gives me a very welcome distraction at an otherwise bleak time of year for me

TimeToMuskUp · 03/09/2015 22:04

Oh I'd not even considered a new winter coat. And winter boots! Bring out the christmas stuff, I take it all back.

Minshu · 03/09/2015 22:08

I really enjoyed my mince pie (from the co-op) earlier this afternoon Grin

TwistyFyas · 03/09/2015 22:10

It's too early for the sweets and mince pies or other Christmassy food but I do start around about now for presents. I have about 15 people to buy for (including my 3dc) so try to spread the cost.

I'm having a trip to toysrus next week to put toys on layaway.

ouryve · 03/09/2015 22:13

YANBU, but it has been this way for a long, long time. Sell off the sun loungers and barbecues and replace with Christmas trees and twinkly lights.

One summer, way back at the end of the 80s, Newcastle put up their Christmas lights while I was still working my summer job.

greenpinkorange · 03/09/2015 22:13

I have a big family who tend too much at Christmas so I feel I have to spread the cost a few months before Christmas starts. I don't go out especially but if I see something now at a good price for Christmas then I'll buy it and stash it.

Flambola · 03/09/2015 23:47

YANBU. This is what I've been dreading. I lost my son on Christmas Day last year and I can't be doing with the constant fucking Christmas shit from now until then. I shall have to go into hiding. Confused

HelenaDove · 03/09/2015 23:59

Flam im so so sorry. Thanks Thanks

My sympathies to you.

Confusedandmuddled · 04/09/2015 07:07

flambola I'm so sorry Sad

My loss was late November 15 years ago. I used to hate the arrival of autumn in the same way you hate the arrival of Christmas stuff. Christmas just gives me a distraction.

Items in a supermarket have to be on sale for X days till they can discount it.

Flam, I'm so sorry Flowers
