AIBU?

To refuse to let DH have the car when he said he'd walk?

So I've booked my car in for a full service and MOT next week as DH said I could use his car as he wanted to walk to work next week.
Yesterday however he twisted his ankle chasing an old woman out of the garden and now wants to use his car. His work is a 15 minute walk away. Mine would take me an hour on bus and I dread to think how long it would take to walk it. AIBU to tell him we arranged for me to have the car and we're sticking to it?

Yes YABU to make your DH walk for 15 minutes on an injured ankle, is there no way that one of you drops the other off and then goes to your own work?

Flossyfloof · 31/08/2015 13:46

Chasing an old woman out of the garden?? Can't you arrange to give him a lift he have a taxi, just this once? It sounds like just one of those domestic things that need to be arranged.

JassyRadlett · 31/08/2015 13:47

So he's injured, and you want him to hobble to work, I assume in pain or discomfort, and taking a lot longer to get there than the usual 15 minutes?

My daily commute is an hour. It's fine. YABU.

TRexingInAsda · 31/08/2015 13:48

Can't you share - one of you drops the other off then drives in? You can hardly say 'well you said you'd walk so go fuck yourself ' when he's injured himself. Don't you like him very much or something?

whattodohatethis · 31/08/2015 13:48

So he's injured and you want to make him walk to work anyway because you don't want to take the bus? Is that right?

ChickenTikkaMassala · 31/08/2015 13:48

YABU to make him walk on an injured ankle, if he was injury free then I'd say YANBU. Is there no other solution?

Twowrongsdontmakearight · 31/08/2015 13:50

I want to know more about chasing an old woman out of the garden!

MrsBuel · 31/08/2015 13:50

he's injured through his own stupidity. He does this every time I book my car in.

I start work at 7am so he could drop me off and collect me later I suppose.

I want to know more about chasing an old woman out of the garden!

Me too!

Also, I think you need to compromise about the car, can someone get dropped off early, or share the cost of a taxi or hire car?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 31/08/2015 13:54

I don't drive.

Can he even control the pedals with a dodgy ankle?

OutToGetYou · 31/08/2015 13:55

He does this every time you book your car in? How does the old lady know you've booked your car in to come in your garden so be can chase her?

Yes, YABU. But you know that.

Btw, my car service and MOT takes a few hours, not a week.

Trills · 31/08/2015 13:56

Could he get a taxi?

What do you mean "he does this every time I book my car in"?

Are you suggesting that he has injured himself on purpose (or is faking it) because he doesn't want to walk 15 minutes to work?

Why on earth is he driving when it's a 15 minute walk anyway?

MrsBuel · 31/08/2015 13:56

The old woman let her dog poo in the front garden. DH saw and shouted at her to get in cleaned up, she told him to fuck himself and came into the garden thrusting at the windows so he went hurtling after her, ultimately going arse over tit in said dog poo. fell down the grass verge and did his ankle in. I told him to ignore her.

I think YABU for not explaining why he was chasing an old lady out of the garden! Grin

Mummatron3000 · 31/08/2015 13:57

Sorry x posted - YANBU

SmokingGun · 31/08/2015 13:58

That sounds like a Frank Spencer scene OP Grin

addictedtosugar · 31/08/2015 13:58

Yes, YABU. Hes injured. Its one day. You need to find an alternative. Taxi for him, or you drop him of, or get a courtesy car for the day, or one of you book in a days holiday if thats possible.

Aqualady · 31/08/2015 14:01

Ha ha ha ha sounds hilarious !! Grin

googoodolly · 31/08/2015 14:02

Can one of you hire a car if he's injured?

Aqualady · 31/08/2015 14:03

I can't believe some posters have ignored the fact he was chasing an elderly lady who was letting her dog shit in his garden and answering the op properly !

Actually crying with laughter Grin

I am laughing too much at the thought of your dh cartoon-chasing some criminal granny out of the garden and prat-falling into (as I imagine it) an ornamental pond, to give any thought to your AIBU.

Please elaborate on the trespassing octogenarian.

Aqualady · 31/08/2015 14:04

'Thrusting at the windows' ....

Ha ha ha Grin

Aqualady · 31/08/2015 14:05

Me too pepper properly laughing Grin
