AIBU: What time do you put pyjamas on?

My routine: have evening bath/shower around the same time as the kids, and put on pyjamas. Do bedtime stories in PJs, then downstairs for watching TV with DH, or chat, or video game, whatever. Evening stuff. Then up to bed.

DH believes this is entirely unreasonable and odd behaviour. "Everyone else" only puts on pyjamas at the very moment of going to bed. After evening bath/shower, one should put on proper clothes again and spend the evening properly dressed. He feels that wearing pyjamas in the evening is akin to going to the shops in them, or wearing them all day.

Of course, it's taken him 13 years to confess he does not like my evenings in PJs, and as a big fan of pretty pyjamas, I am both hurt by the confession and considering this a total LTB issue. He wants me to choose between him and my cosy checked pants? No contest.

What say you? Is spending the couple of hours pre-bed in your pyjamas a heinous crime, social faux pas or enormous turn off?

If I have a bath with the DC and I'm not going out again I'd always put my pj's on then! So I'm an anytime after 6.15pm kind of woman!

I hope you're joking and he's not really thinking of leaving you over jammies Grin

I get in to pjs often when I get home at 6. Sometimes if I'm at home all day I will have a bath and put clean pjs on in the afternoon

With 2 young DC, I put my pyjamas on same time as they do, around 7. And even on the odd occasion they have t been here I've done it then aswell!!
(I do this partly so they think we're all going to bed! Helps with fuss free bedtimes)
DP also puts on his pj's more or less after dinner!
We prefer to be comfy and snuggled into them by the time we go to bed!
Your Dh IBU and you should LTB

As soon as I get in the house I'll put my pyjamas on

Either after evening shower, if I don't need to run downstairs to sort washing, get things from the cellar (live in a block of flats) or directly before getting into bed.

As soon as I get home from work. My husband used to try and insist I wait until 9pm - he knows better now.

I put them on as soon as I have decided that I am not going down the garden/to the allotment again that day. On days when I am not intending to leave the house, I can be in them all day.

Today for instance, if we weren't having to go out later, I'd be in them all day.

I'm with your DH, but then I only have a bath last thing before bedtime. If I were having my evening bath at 7 pm I can see your point - you don't want to get back into dirty clothes and you don't want to put on a fresh set at that time of night to lounge around in so why not go straight for pjs.

Only when going to bed and generally shower and change before going down stairs in the morning.

However l put my trackies on the very second I'm home and sometimes won't leave the house because l want to stay in them would never actually wear trackies outside of house

Just before I get I to bed.

I cannot wear PJs when I'm up and about. I'd also get dressed again if I had a bath/shower in the evening.

I also have to get dressed as soon as I get up.

I just feel really uncomfortable in them

I have a shower as soon as the DCs are in bed - about 7pm - then straight into my pyjamas. I thought I was in the minority but it seems not looking at all these replies.

I tend to go for what I think is termed lounge wear as opposed to actual pjs. I just wear a vest top and knickers to bed. So usually it is yoga trousers,Hush trousers or some other loose type bottoms, with a vest top and a jumper (have a few old Boden ones with little holes which fit the bill perfectly).
That makes me sound a bit hobo-ish,Grin. But comfy and casual is the way to go once indoors! Your DH is being very unreasonable.

I don't wear any, but I do change into lounging around clothes when I get home from work. As in fact does DH. Your H is being very U, especially since he is only coming out with this after 13 years - childish, childish, childish. Tell him never to speak of it again and continue doing what you want.

After dd has gone to bed so anywhere from 6.30-7pm. I would live in them if I could. I don't wear them in the day now though as dd insists on walks, so I'll wear tracksuit bottoms or leggings and a cosy jumper in the house as that's like wearing jammies while actually being dressed. Grin

Dinner, clean up, shower then pj's. I like to be clean and comfortable in the evening. Sometimes i change into a different top just before getting into bed as i tend to be cold downstairs but like to be cold in bed.
