Hm. So DH (who is a bit of an airhead) left his (eye-wateringly expensive) watch on the bookshelf outside the bathroom on Thursday night as he was bathing the children.

I saw it Friday morning there after he had gone to work but didn't do anything sensible like move it.

By Friday evening the watch was AWOL.

During the course of Friday we had three people in the house: my cleaning lady, who has worked for me for over a year and I have a great relationship with (and I know she works her socks off and values the work); her son (who is in his early 20s) who she asked me if it was OK if she brought him with her to help her as she had extra jobs to do on Friday and I said yes; and my PT nanny whose entire family I know very well and who also highly values her work with me.

Having thought that it was probably DH being dozy and the watch was elsewhere I have since ransacked the house: no watch.

My (entirely lacking in evidence) gut is that the cleaner's son has swiped it. He is the only person who has been in the house I don't really really trust (I don't know him), and although I gave permission for him to come and help his mother with her job I am now clearly regretting this.

I have texted her to ask her whether either of them saw it and she has texted back to say that neither of them did (which rules out the nanny as she was here after them).

Honestly, I don't know what to do. I never want to let anyone into my house ever again. I feel like I should get my keys back from my cleaner and just let her go: and I feel badly about that because the work is important to her and I don't think she has anything to do with it (directly).

Help!
