AIBU?

Netmums VS Mumsnet

Mumsnet seems more controversial in content to me (well the AIBU section anyway). I previously enjoyed Netmums but find now that I hardly ever go on it. I prefer the "lively" sometimes abrasive discussions on Mumsnet.

Derek - please report to the torture re-training chamber immediately. You will remember the procedure from before. We will strap you to a chair in front of a large screen, place toothpicks under your eyelids to keep them open and repeatedly flash swear words, bats and photos of Sir Terry until you are reprogrammed to the MN way of thinking.

Agree with Derek.

We need more hunning and bubzing over here.

And lots more xxxx

In a fight, I know we could easily have Netmums

Thank you hotfuzzra. I had completely forgotten the gin drip. What is the matter with me?

They've got to you, haven't they?

I've tried NM's a few times but I just don't get it Confused

The layout is completely distracting and I find it a bit difficult to navigate round the site tbh. Plus I find it really weird that your not allowed to swear on a site meant for grown ups Hmm

Fucking netmums Grin

I always imagine NM and MN in a celebrity death match.
NM would be a 20 something yummy mummy with a cupcake embossed changing bag, wearing a juicy tracksuit.
MN would be in her late 30's wearing Joules, carrying a mulberry bag, ready to slap the opposition with her mooncup...

I really would like a pregnancy countdown thingy they have on netmums. I noticed some don't stop - one lady has apparently been pregnant for about 3 years, amazing. I'm wondering if she's just skipping all the tedious stuff/broken sleep bit of the early years...

NM's banned me for swearing about a Frozen baked potato. Grin

Chipped Yes with NM sponsored by Bacardi Breezers, MN sponsored by Tanqueray

I hate the netmums snobbery on mn. Apart from anything else it betrays a crippling status related anxiety on the part of many mners.

Another convert here.

I got a long ban on netmums for calling someone "beyond stupid" and then they lengthened the ban when I opened a second account (which they deleted).

I came here instead, ban got lifted a couple of months back so I went to have a look but honestly, it's shit. I made some brilliant friends on there (most of them are banned too) who I talk to and see in rl but the lack of intelligence and the endless "am I pregnant" threads bores me rigid. At least I can block the ttc bits on here as I'm not interested at all.

Plus I can say fucking bollocks on here :o

I use both - they're surprisingly similar in content. I hide the tickers and the countdowns and all the other stuff that seems to hurt MNetters sensibilities so much.

You're not allowed to swear on Netmums? I thought it was for adults?

Well, I won't be fucking going there then!

Chip, it would be impossible to go for the MN mum though, because she would be carrying baby in a special sling. Can imagine a food fight though - MN mum throwing Waitrose quinoa and organic chicken with NM mum battering through with Iceland 20 frozen nuggets (better wepon of choice IMO).
