To apply for a credit card in these circumstances?

Bit complicated, but basically my main source of income has been halved this month and I have hardly any money as a result. I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to get a credit card just to tide me over until end of August/beginning of September, so I can get out and about a bit more? Or is it a bad idea? I'm not very good with money and I don't have anybody I can ask. Thank you
