AIBU to want to shoot HIM with a bow and arrow, track HIM for 2 days, then kill him, skin him and cut his head off????? To see if he then thinks that I 'didn't know I was doing anything wrong'?

Fuck him. I hope someone skins the fucker.

Crabstick · 29/07/2015 12:05

It really is very sad.

BestIsWest · 29/07/2015 12:06

I abhor what he did but that is a really unpleasant term to use.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 29/07/2015 12:07

I don't wish anyone to put a price on his head and take him out but I hope his business suffers.

MarchLikeAnAnt · 29/07/2015 12:08

Yanbu. I would gladly torture him

kali110 · 29/07/2015 12:08

Poor poor lion. No wonder that guy didn't want to be named, he knew he had done wrong.

ExitPursuedByABear · 29/07/2015 12:09

I have no words.

Gem124 · 29/07/2015 12:11

Absolutely scum. He said he didn't realise it was a "famous" lion as though killing an "unfamous" lion would be ok!! People like him need to be hit where it hurts... In the wallet so let's hope his business is ruined.

fancyanotherfez · 29/07/2015 12:11

I don't want anyone to skin him alive by I do want him to suffer. I think his business collapsing and being hounded on the Internet so he fears for his safety and his family's safety should teach him a bit of empathy. Apparently he's a big game hunter and does it all the time. And he's sorry. To late now isn't it?

starlight2007 · 29/07/2015 12:12

I have just seen this on this morning 40 hours for the lion to die..Angry

eyeswideopennow · 29/07/2015 12:13

He's not sorry. He's only sorry he got caught. If he hadn't been caught it wouldn't have made an ounce of difference,, its not as though he's had a epiphany and realised he's been doing wrong. Vile man.

IsadoraQuagmire · 29/07/2015 12:13

You're not being at all unreasonable. I would thoroughly enjoy killing the pathetic piece of shit myself.

FortyCoats · 29/07/2015 12:14

Yanbu

He's a despicable bastard Angry

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 29/07/2015 12:17

40 hours., I wish I hadn't clicked on this thread.
Well I have no desire for anyone to be skinned or hurt. This disgusting specimen included. But not everyone is like me are they. There will be people out there who would gladly put their hands on him,
He didn't realise the lion was famous. I don't get the relevance in that, so had the lion not been famous he would have thought it okay to torture the poor thing.

doodlyfiddly · 29/07/2015 12:18

To be honest, I can't even bear to read or listen to the story in full. Unfortunately, what I know has just been picked up from hearing bits on the news or trying to skim past the story online and that's devastating enough. What is wrong with some people?? A creature so magnificent, to die at the hands of someone like that for no reason. I feel so angry about it, I really can't put it into words.

SistersofPercy · 29/07/2015 12:18

I saw the photo of him earlier with a beautiful Rhino he'd killed, then I read he was a bow hunter.
Now I'm no expert on bow hunting but I do know Rhinoceros have exceptionally thick skin. It got me wondering how you'd kill one instantaneously with an arrow and I concluded you wouldn't. The long, slow death these animals have suffered at his hands devastates me.

I hope he never works again.

DopeyDawg · 29/07/2015 12:25

I was sickened.
I hope he is shamed and his business suffers but I wouldn't wish violence. It just breeds violence.

MaidOfStars · 29/07/2015 12:30

While I personally find it a disgusting activity, I think it's probably pragmatic of park managers to offer the opportunity to join in legal culls to people who want to pay lots of money for the "thrill". Sometimes, big animals have to be culled. The park makes money that is likely put towards conservation. The hunters get their jollies without resorting to illegally paying and illegally hunting the wrong animals. If you want a cheetah head on your wall, and a national park owner wants to make £50k off you so you can come and shoot a old and ill cheetah that they were going to cull anyway, then I can accept that (I think the pros outweigh the cons, but happy to debate this).

I find it plausible that this guy thinks he did everything above board.

However, the premise of this activity should preclude bow hunting. That's never going to minimise the pain and suffering of an animal. And for that, he is scum.

But then a clean shot with a hunting rifle wouldn't be as much fun, would it?

VulcanWoman · 29/07/2015 12:33

Animals suffer on a daily basis, just because they are not so supposedly beautiful it's apparently not as bad.
The Government's of these countries activity encourage and breed the Animals to be hunted unfortunately.

Plateofcrumbs · 29/07/2015 12:33

Naively I had no idea that big game hunting like this was something that still passes for a hobby amongst some people. Utterly deplorable.

Silvercatowner · 29/07/2015 12:34

He only feels bad because he shot a popular lion. He's been shooting big game for years. I hope there's a special place in hell for bastards such as him.

YANBU. I feel the same way. He quotes it as a pursuit he loves. Who gets pleasure out of killing animals?

And he's a coward. He wouldn't kill a lion with his bare hands.

mummymeister · 29/07/2015 12:39

I am quite disgusted that MNHQ is allowing people to say that someone deserves to be murdered and that they would do it. get a bit of prospective people. what he did was absolutely and utterly wrong and I condemn it with every bone in my body. however, he comes from a country where guns are legal. he comes from a background of hunting. he has more money than sense. put these all together and this is what you get. his business will be ruined. good. but you cannot equate the life of a human to that of an animal. fisherman?? they catch fish and kill them every day. just because they aren't rare and photogenic do you condemn that. as they say in animal farm " all animals are equal but some are more equal than others"

millionsofpeaches · 29/07/2015 12:40

Apparently he has a previous conviction in the US for killing a black bear out of season.

It's exactly as a pp says, he's only sorry he got caught. He maintains that he thought he had a permit, so legally I think he'll probably get away with it. Begs the question why are they granting bow hunting licenses though.

I wish that this negative publicity would have an impact on this 'industry', but sadly I don't think it will stop him and others like him from slaughtering animals for fun. Angry
