Am really interested in this!

I'm 36 and would like to ttc number 3.

Sadly I've just had a MMC so I'm wondering if ttc is a good idea. I'm do feel fit, healthy and young but wonder if my body agrees!

The miscarriage has really thrown me. I've had two straightforward pregnancies with dc1&2, now 2 and 7 months.

Would appreciate honest opinions on this.

Thanks

For me it was 24.

I know that is young but after my 2nd didn't want anymore.

Some people it will be in their 40's some people 50's

I'm sorry for your loss.

LuckyLopez · 27/07/2015 21:48

Probably not the right person to ask! I wanted to be done by the time I was 30, and I was.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 27/07/2015 21:49

I didn't really have one, I was 37 and 39 when mine were born.

lemonpoppyseed · 27/07/2015 21:50

DH and I started trying for DC2 when I was 38. We agreed that if nothing had happened by the time I had turned 40, we would stop trying. We conceived DD about five months later, and she has just turned one. I think it's definitely worth having the conversation before you start TTCing again...

I had my first child at 38. I would say that your two children will be increasingly demanding in there next few years to come. Babies are relatively easy to look after, a 2 year old and a 4 year old takes more energy.
They also get very costly- especially when they get to 10, 12 and the teenage years.

Meredithgraze · 27/07/2015 21:51

I haven't had my last child yet (well hopefully, like you have had m/c's) but 40 would be my cut off

scarlets · 27/07/2015 21:52

I made no specific plans, but I ttc for the last time at 32/33 and in retrospect that was right for me. Fwiw I dint think you're on the old side at all!

SocialMediaAddict · 27/07/2015 21:52

Mine ended up being 31 as I had twins and didn't want anymore. I always thought 35 would be my cut off.

Pugthug · 27/07/2015 21:53

38

SnapesCapes · 27/07/2015 21:54

34, which is now. I just feel that beyond this my body will be less equipped and the age gaps will be too large.

We had DS2 4 and a half years ago, haven't used any protection since and haven't had a 3rd child. We've very deliberately not tried consciously, I thought if it was going to happen it would. It's not. I'm taking the hint and DH is off for the snip in a fortnight.

Rockinghorse123 · 27/07/2015 21:54

I'm pg with dc2 and plan to have a third. We've said we want to be done by the time I'm 35 (30 now) but that's more to do with the age gap between the dc than my age.

AngieBolen · 27/07/2015 21:55

I'm 43, and feel physically I could have another, although I don't want any more DC. I think my cut off would be 45.

scatterthenuns · 27/07/2015 21:55

Menopause... thats the point of it, surely?

ShatnersBassoon · 27/07/2015 21:55

I wanted our family to be complete when I was in my 20s. I didn't trust my own body enough to leave it until I was older.

ShelaghTurner · 27/07/2015 21:56

So sorry about your mc Flowers

I wanted to be done by 40. A mc put paid to that and in the event I had my second at 40 and 3 months. I was 36 when I had my first.

Would have liked another but for me, especially given my (zero) level of fitness and high BMI, I didn't feel that any more was a good idea.

306235388 · 27/07/2015 21:56

I wanted to be finished by 29 and I was but now I'm 34 and my youngest is about to start school I'm wavering but dh isn't and financially it'd be stupid.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

pickingstrawberries · 27/07/2015 21:58

I don't think age would bother me. My cut off would be when my family was complete, if you see what I mean? Sorry about your miscarriage Flowers

MadameJosephine · 27/07/2015 21:58

For me it was 40.....

I was 41 when I had DD Grin

TheHouseOnBellSt · 27/07/2015 21:59

I'm also 43 and know that physically I could have another child...I don't think I will because financially it's not a good move and we have 2...but if I was going to try, I'd stop at 45.

Suefla62 · 27/07/2015 22:01

Told my husband when our youngest was 1.5 that it was now or never. He chose never.

rosy71 · 27/07/2015 22:04

I had mine at 33 & 36. We did discuss having a 3rd but I felt I would need an age gap of 4-5 years which would make me 40-41. I didn't want another sooner; felt it would be too hard. When I reached 40, it was as if a switch had flicked & I no longer had any desire to have another. So i suppose it was 40 for me.

ThePortlyPinUp · 27/07/2015 22:08

I always said I'd stop once I reached 30, I ended up with 4dd's by the time I was 26 and had 2 mc's before we decided enough was enough.

Dd1 I had at 26 dd2 at 29. I started trying for dc3 at 36 with the idea of having numbers 3 and 4 before 40. Finally fell pregnant at 39 and had dd3 nearer 40. Decided to count blessings. I had decided I would try until I was 40 then move on with my life. Whether I actually would is difficult to say.

RosePetels · 27/07/2015 22:12

For me probably 40-45

DangermouseandPenfold · 27/07/2015 22:15
  1. I couldn't deal with the sleep deprivation again now . DH agrees and has booked a vasectomy. We've got 2, and we only ever wanted 2, so I count us as very lucky TBH.
