AIBU?

That this woman was insulting my housekeeping skills.

I recently had a bit of a party for my DHs birthday. Just a few round for snacks and drinks. My DHs brother brought his new girlfriend, who I'd never met before. She seemed nice enough and was quite friendly. However later in the evening I went into the kitchen and I was shocked to see her with a scouring pad with ajax cleaner on rubbing down my cupboards. How bizarre I thought. Apart from the fact they didn't need cleaning, who would do that. Aibu that this is weird?

Very weird. Are you sure this wasn't a dream?

Ha ha this can't be true surely.
Thought you were going to say she was washing up But scrubbing the cupboards? !
Though if it was criticism of cleaning skills surely it was a criticism of both you and your DH?

She probably had an issue, poor thing.

YABU

It's perfectly normal.

And she was scouring them? We have an old kitchen and are not precious but that would scratch badly!

That is super weird! I bet your cupboards are perfectly lovely and clean without being scrubbed with Ajax.

Did she go looking for the cleaner too?

No def not a dream, I've discussed it with my Dh, he thinks it a bit weird but nothing to get too worked up about.

If anyone took a scouring pad to my cupboards, they'd feel my boot up their arse.

What did you do?

Anyone who fancies scrubbing my kitchen is more than welcome to!

Did you ask her what she was doing?

Well yes stealth but he's thick skinned. He doesn't see it the same as me though.

That is very odd! I am a 'clean freak' but I would never presume to clean someone else's home, especially without their permission!

Might be a good idea to invite her over when the hoovering needs doing though Wink

This thread is one of the funniest I've read in a while for some reason - boot up the arse! ahahaha!

Had she spilt something staining down them and was desperately cleaning it up?

buttercupsandclover · 24/07/2015 15:07

Yes I did ask her , she said "Oh I was just wiping down your worktops and I thought these looked like they could do with a clean".

If I ever found someone scrubbing my cupboards I'd give them a list and ask them to do the bathroom next, then dust and run the hoover round. Grin

I would invite her back round and show her where I keep the Hoover and bleach!

Yanbu

A friend of mine put bleach down the toilets of another friend's house and 'ran a hoover' round after staying there. I think that was over stepping the mark. As is this.

YANBU - that is rude. She probably has OCD but nevertheless she surely ought to try to keep it under control for someone she is meeting for the first time!

It was very hard to know the right words to say to her at the time because I was shocked. I think I mumbled something along the lines of "but they were clean" but she just carried on scrubbing with gusto.

How drunk was she? She may have wiped the side down after spilling something and got carried away.
