I suppose she thought he might regret it, be bullied. But no, she should have let him have it.

Not really any of your business but maybe the mum thought her son would regret it and be bullied. She knows him you don't!

I'm not a weirdo and I would advise my DS the same. I don't care how non PC that is, no way would I set him up for the ridicule and name calling that would follow, it was bad enough when he was going to dancing classes.

Alright saying you shouldn't genderise colour but this is the real world and some children do, so yes perhaps she thought he would be teAsed. Also The word "twat" is going a tad over board isn't it.

Of course pink doesn't mean you're gay, but he's been bullied enough without giving other bullies an excuse.

Stealthpolarbear · 01/07/2015 07:31

Oh yes there's a high risk he could catch the gay.
My phone doesn't believe in the word gay and keeps changing it to guy. So I'm safe at least.

Not as bad as the mother in Greggs who refused her son a pink donut because they were for girls. There were only punk donuts, no blue ones.

I'd have probably said the same about the cast , depending on the age and personality of the child. My 6 year old would be able to carry a pink cast off, my 9 year old not so much.

Yes pink would be much more sensible in this heat.
But there'll be thunder later so he'll need blue for that.
Seriously I feel sorry for anyone in a cast in the summer. Must be unbearable

You have no idea whether he would be bullied or not Teal - and don't you dare say that's kow towing to the bullies either without having a child who's been bullied like my son - I'm not going to use him like some right on social experiment. Giving him a pink plaster cast would give them a field day, why on earth would I set him up for that!

YANBU id have given her a very funny look! The boys in my class wear pink all the time, I don't think a pink cast would be an issue for any of them

Lol at the punk donuts. Did they have safety pins through the side?

Well, I would try to discourage ds3 (almost 9) from having a pink cast. Pink is one of his favourite colours but he already gets a fair bit of teasing at school which he can't take. A pink t-shirt can be taken off but a plaster cast is there to stay for a while. If he insisted I wouldn't stop him.

He was probably suggesting it for a giggle. I'm sure I'd have done the same at that age. Anything to be different.

Unfortunately your views have not quite reached the school gates, DD friend a boy had one of the owl bags that where popular a while back. He was so badly ridiculed he is now off with anxiety. The crap that teenagers can go through I would also be a t**t than put my DS through that.

YANBU. Talk about controlling, let the poor kid pick his own colour, I'm sure he's perfectly aware of the implications of which colour he chose.

Oops, auto correct. Punk donuts would be able to carry off a pink cast Wink

You really don't have a clue about how cruel kids can be. I would have done the same as his mum. But good for you.

Another weirdo checking in - I'd have said the same as the mother. But the boy was probably joking anyway.
