What are the BBC playing at giving the Top Gear job to him?he who is just everywhere lately? I guess his car knowledge is probably huge and I did like him on Dont forget your toothbrush in the 90s etc, but i would love to see someone else have a go. It just annoys me, there must be so many new people hoping for the breaks. It just seems unfair. He is even going to be doing Glastonbury next week too!

He was an obvious choice tbh. He loves cars, has loads of cars (which they will likely gain access to) and has been on the show before a few times. The others may be unknowns tbh but they need someone known to anchor the thing on. After all that's at stake they won't chance 3 total unknowns on something so huge.

Baby, yes i can see why, but im just sick of the same old faces. He has form for getting bored with things too, i bet he will only do a few series.

I saw the news too. I think Chris Evans will be fabulous on Top Gear. I really do. I hate Top Gear so won't be watching, but he does seem like a good fit! I do like Chris Evans. I'm not being horrible in any way. Just can't abide Top Gear whoever is presenting it.

I dont dislike him either, i just wanted to bang the drum for some new talent out there. Emma willis is another one who seems to get all the gigs too!

I think he's a good choice. They need someone very used to 'as live' TV who has the car knowledge to placate die hard petrolheads.

Oh no. Don't like him. Love the whole TG show - and he is just wrong.

I think he is a good choice. When he is presenting something, l feel safe nothing will go wrong. The BBC must be confident he won't muck up!

Didn't he say he wasn't going to do it?

I've always had a bit of a soft spot for him, he looks like my brother.

A bit ironic though that the bbc now consider him a safe pair of hands when he was sacked from radio 1 for turning up drunk/not turning up.

Yes. He did dismiss it at first. Must be a good package ..

Although, I'm a bit Hmm that he went on and on about him not taking the job.

Guy Martin is great but not to front a show like that. He hasn't done that much presenting before.

It doesn't matter which puppet is put up in front of the camera. Top Gear is finished. it is never going to be Top Gear again, is it.

I agree that he'll be good but he was so categorical in his dismissal of filling the role I feel (ridiculous I know) let down!

WeirdCatLady · 16/06/2015 20:58

It'll be him, Jodie Kidd and someone who knows about bikes I reckon.

I won't be bothering to watch.

I'll hang on for house of cars or whatever clarkson, hammond and may end up doing Grin

You never know, Top Gear may go back to being a programme about cars, rather than men waving their cocks about.

The only other person who could have done it with his car knowledge would have been James Martin who has all the charisma of a carrot cake.

I had it in my head it was Chris Moyles Blush

And I was thinking 'well, that's just bizarre'Grin
