to feel like I really can't be arsed to for a "run"?

I use the word run in the loosest sense, it will be a slow jog at best.

I got to the end of week 2 of couch to 5K and hurt my leg and I just can't get back into it now! I know I need to, but I just cannot be bothered.

If you are a regular exerciser HOW do you motivate yourselves? After work, DS, housework, etc I just can't find the motivation.

I've lost my running mojo too. Ran London marathon in April and just can't be arsed anymore!

I've hidden my running group on facebook too.

Get a running partner who won't let you quit...
I'm in the same situation....I get to the end of the road and give up if I'm not being 'bullied' by someone.

See the scales should motivate me but they don't.

I'm away in about 4 weeks and I don't care what I look like as I won't know anyone there and people are usually distracted by my norks. Wink

Wish I could say I've ran a marathon and then lost mojo but I was only just beginning. I can't get back into it at all.

I could do an inhouse work out dvd. But I probably won't. [lazy]

feckitall at least 3 people I know have asked me to go running with them and I can think of nothing worse. I'm a bit of an introvert so although I have friends and a live out DP I rather enjooy being on my own most of the time and being with someone I know whilst all sweaty and out of breath sounds mortifiying.

Just do it!! should be a slogan!!

Put your running gear on and say if you still don't want to after 10mins running then come back.

To be fair I used to prioritise running over housework though - currently 32weeks pregnant and had to stop Sad

tennis my running buddy did London and is the same at the minute. She was brilliant, followed the plan to the letter, but has barely run since. She did liverpool half yesterday though!!

lol fancyanotherfez. I was doing okay until calf injury ad was lookin forward to week 3. Had to get sports massage guy to sort it out and he said I prob did too much too soon. I was hardly doing anything! Blush Kind of knocked my confidence a bit TBH.

I know I should get back to it, I really do....

I'm getting old and aware of how I shrivel up (literally, curling like a leaf at the keyboard) if I don't exercise. That motivates me, little and often. Go to gym first thing in the morning to get it out the way mostly. Oh and the compliments about how fit I look, and my clothes getting too big - all excellent motivation!

I have fab running gear and often do the housework in it. It makes me feel virtuous but it's never seen a run or even a trot yet. Wink

I used to feel like that about swimming. I would regularly bring my swimming bag into work with me so that I could stop off for a swim on the way home. And I would regularly talk myself out of it during the day, coming up with every and any obstacle that would make it 'more sensible to go tomorrow'.

Now I have two set times during the week when I go swimming, and there's no arguing about it. I treat it like a class or a pre-booked activity.

Don't overthink it, just go. I find if I think about it too much, I find all kinds of ways to talk myself out of it!

Also, I try to remember that I've never regretted going for a run. Even the shit ones where I barely manage 10 mins and feel like crap are better than not going at all.

What do you want? What do you seriously want? Do you want to lose weight/get fit and do you have a goal in mind? You can't commit to an exercise programme without motivation. You have to have a clear goal. For most people, a starting point would be something 'well I'm going away so I want to achieve x by y date and by doing z sport'. You're already talking about the future and saying you don't care about changing anything by then. Do you want to run? It's okay if you don't want to. I hate running- though I do make myself do it alongside my other programmes - and if I only went running, I'd have given up years ago. If you do want to get back to running, then set yourself a goal. Either sign up for a proper 5k (loads and loads of them around) so you have to have completed the programme by then, join a local running club or buddy up with somebody.

If you don't want to go running, then say so and we can give you some other ideas. Grin

I exercise 6 days a week

It helps that I love that I keep it varied and love what I do. I run 3 times a week, do a Boxfit class and free weights

Not giving you excuses but maybe you haven't found what you enjoy yet

Just do it.

Once you get used to it you will enjoy it.

Oh the idea was that I did the couch to 5K working up to a race for life I stupidly signed up for! It should have been perfect timing training programme wise but then I hurt my leg.

It's on the 4th of July and as long as I finish it without dying I'll be happy.

So yes that's a good point. I need to think about what I want to get out of it, and maybe make some goals.

I like the idea of set times that I WILL do it. This would also probably work well. Thinking about it I do prefer swimming to running but the idea was I improved my running and it was meant to be a bit of personal goals / growth. I usually shy away from challenges and do need to be a bit less afraid of failure I think.

I run and I feel twitchy and irritable if I don't go every other day. I'm not sure how I got to this point though! As a previous poster says it is extremely easy to make up excuses not to go, to let the day roll past you, and it sometimes takes a monumental effort to actually get out of the door, but once I'm out there I feel good and even better afterwards for having done it.

Personally what motivates me is my improvement in fitness and strength, I feel strong when I am out there running. Bodies are made for physical activity.

I run in a morning. If I know I am going to go out after a school drop off(v rare) then I am good to go as soon as I get home. I am too lazy to keep getting changed, so if I am in sports great then am more likely to 'use' it.

Also have running buddies. It really does help - knowing that someone is waiting for me to turn up. Can't quite cry off so easily.

I do get a bit bored periodically, then have a week or two off. whichis fine - as long as I don't quit permanently.

Now get out there!!

Go first thing if you can. Like, absolutely first thing in the morning. The longer it hangs over you the less likely you are to do it.

Wow ecky how do you fit it in 6 times a week? I could I think exercise a max of 3 times a week as that would be the only times I'm not working and don't have DS, I could up it more maybe if it was something I could involve him in but thats rather limited. It also would involve me having no other extra plans / social engagements. I guess it depends on lots of factors but am single mum to a DS with autism. I do quite well in terms of he goes to his dad's twice a week but I'm also running my own business. Lots of plates being juggled and I'm tired.

And prioritise exercising before housework, you might find after you've been for a run you'll have the buzz to do the housework!
