was speaking to a couple I know today, both out of work and living on benifits. They have 3 children and they are very vocal about how awful it is that they barely get enough money to survive. It turn out that she is now pregnant with their 4th child! This was planned and they are delighted?! They use food banks and thir children have every gadget and toy known to man!

When I asked how on earth they will manage with another child she blatantly said the money they recieve will go up and that it is her right to have as many children as she likes?!!

I have 2DC, I would love a 3rd but we would struggle finNcislly so have made the decision not to. I believe benifits should be capped at 2 children, she obviously doesn't agree! If she can't afford to pay for the children she has why should I go without yet pay for hers through my taxes? AIBU?

Oh god, not this again.

Yes, ideally, people should be able to support all their children. But since that doesn't always happen, do you want the children to live on the streets and starve to punish the parents for their choice? Not if you're a decent person, no. I'm very happy for "my" taxes to support those children.

You're about to get absolutely slaughtered.
Personally, in the particular circumstances described above, I think YANBU, but circumstances are different for everyone...

Please comfort yourself with the fact that there's very few people in the country like that family.

There's less of them than there is tax dodgers or rapists.

Anyone else prefer to get more aerated about tax dodgers and rapists?

I predict:

Lots of groaning about 'this again'
Lots of suspicious Hmm faces about you knowing the intricate details of the family.
Lots of Tory blaming
Lots of Labour blaming
Lots of 'hilarious' jones about goats and flatscreen TVs.

Wonder how many have appeared in the time it took to post this Grin

OP, the only comfort you can take is because of your responsible attitude to your financial situation and family planning, the day will come when you are not struggling financially. Whereas the couple you describe are potless now, and will always be so, and will die potless.

Well I'm feeling generous Soncey, so I'll swap you a goat for 20 fags.

His name is Benny Fits and he lives on a diet of Maccy Dees and cheap cider.

I totally agree - if you cannot afford the children you have then you should not have any more. However this is a moral choice and if you think you are entitled then there is nothign anyone else can do to stop it and once the child is born I would not want to see it suffer through no choice of its own.
