My 4 year old has just marched very purposely down the stairs wearing my worst, oldest, biggest pants over his trousers and announced 'nanny your controlling' to my MIL.

YWNBU. That is all.

No. A clean break is the only way.

Was going to suggest adoption as a future mitigation plan. Dogs are nice. And loyal.

Put ds on eBay, free to a good home, one lady owner etc. Then run for the hills.

I think you should keep the 4 year old. He appears to have great comic timing and will probably become a famous (rich) comedian. This will probably come in handy when you reach retirement age and you can guilt trip a comfortable retirement out of him.....Wink

Stitched up by a 4 year old. Remember that as future ammo when he brings his first girlfriend home.

Have you seen those really talented dogs on BGT though....

I will take the 4 yo off your hands.

You may keep the controlling MIL.

Obviously you could get the same MIL/visitor embarrassment....

Haha, dogs not always so loyal after all! NobodyLivesHere you are on, I make no promises for his future behaviour, he is clearly some sort of sociopath.

It is totally true, as for getting the hint, I think he'd have to be a bit more direct ; )

Can I please stress, this is not my dog, nor is it my dildo! 'twas just a random pic to highlight that dogs are probably as untrustworthy!!

and MIL replied .......?

Long, awkward silence. MIL 'I think you might be getting your mummy in trouble, now why don't you run upstairs and take those lovely pants off.' I think I then did some vague protest stuttering, but mainly turned a rather fetching shade of deep purple / red.

Change your name and leave the country. It's the only way.

Once, I was trying to ring my MIL but she wasn't in so I hung up. Only I hadn't. At the next family gathering she advised everyone that her answering machine had captured me singing "there's a worm at the bottom of the garden and its name it's wiggly woo" and then played it to everyone

We are NC now. Not because of the wiggly woo worm, but it didn't help Grin

Well where did he possibly get a statement like that from? Must have been watching too much TV. Let him have more.
