AIBU?

AIBU to think surely this isn't that strange?

Not a very interesting sex related question but one that made me a little confused.

Friend and I were watching some rubbish B movie romance, no idea the name because to be honest we were chatting and drinking wine through most of it.We kept it on because it hit all the clichés: shy girl, bad boy, forbidden romance etc. and we were laughing over them as well.

Then comes the sex cliché. They have sex and within minutes he's asleep and she's sighing at the snoring. Friend tells me that's her and her DH the night before, I agree that's always myself and DH no matter what the circumstance: drunk, sober, early morning/late night. I told her that sex wakes me up, rather then sends me to sleep.

Friend tells me that that's strange that I'm very wide awake, almost bouncy after sex. I didn't think it was that strange? AIBU? Sex has always woken me up, regardless of partner and when I do orgasm it keeps me awake after even more.

Friend insisted that orgasms send her to sleep and that's the 'normal way', her exact words 'just like for men'.

AIBU to think it's not a really strange thing? My friend seemed to really think it is which I found a bit strang because how often do you compare sex lives to be so sure it's not normal anyway? I just though 'different strokes for different strokes'.

So am I the only 'strange one' according to my friend or does anyone else feel more awake after sex?

Sex wakes me up too, never thought it was strange, just how it is with me. Does make me slightly very irritable if DP comes to bed in the early hours and feels like sex though.

Isn't masturbation known as nature's sleeping pill, or something.
it certainly works for me

DH always gets drowsy.

I either fall asleep quickly or lie awake for hours. No pattern to it though.

Orgasms don't send me to sleep either. I'm usually wide awake after.

Wales me up too. I can fight it and get to sleep but could just as easily have a wee rest and get up to start doing something. I like morning sex for this reason - sets me up for the day!! Grin

I'm often awake afterwards. I'm sure I read years ago that men were generally sleepy afterwards and women awake, although obviously that's not the case for everyone.

Neither is really strange though is it? Just different.

Woo hoo! I was thinking 'oh balls' when I read the first couple of responses but now I see I'm not alone Grin

Thanks for all your answers everyone, it's interesting to see that my friend's opinion is right for some but I'm glad not for all.

Crafty, Velocity, Fern and Lime, thanks for sharing the orgasm-wakening! And I agree if DH wakes me up during the night, especially on a work night, I usually am a lot tired the next day while he is very well rested.

Rubbish, I hadn't tried late night masturbation, I'm thinking it will probably be the same but best to test the theory next time DH is away.

X posted, thank you ladies too.

Crikey and Buttercup, yes I like morning sex too though DH find it makes him knackered for the rest of the day!

Alma, I though just different too, my friend found it strange. I may have to show her this thread to convince her it's not.

Cocktail does it wake up your DH too? That's pretty interesting, I've only ever seen the 'knocked out post orgasm' lol.

I thought it was normal that sex wake women up, whilst makes men sleepy? Something to do with biology, I'm sure I read that somewhere. Sure seems true to me!

I have a foot in both camps. Sometimes it knocks me out like a sleeping pill. Other times it wakes me right up. No rhyme nor reason to it Grin

Wakes me up.I can be on the verge of sleep really tired but if I have sex at that point than WHAM! I'm wide awake for hours. I don't want to stay in bed either but have to get up and roam.

Wakes me up too Wink

Report

Wakes me up! And DP doesn't get sleepy, just very relaxed - like all the worries are gone, that's how he describes it. So yes, he might sleep better after if he'd go to bed but he's NEVER just rolled over and fallen asleep. So...it's really not the same for everyone, man or woman.
