AIBU?

To think this pool should not be open?

Took DS to our local pool today for a swim. There was a notice at reception stating that the changing rooms were being refurbished and there were temporary changing rooms in one of the squash courts. Fine, I thought, not ideal but not a major problem.

It wasn't until we were in our swimming gear that I realised there were no showers and no loos. We had to trudge back upstairs through the cafe area still in our swimming gear through to reception to use the loos there.

AIBU to think that it's absolutely bogging to have a pool with no showers or loos? We didn't see anyone else using the reception loos so presumably people just peed in the pool!

Why would you presume people would just pee in the pool? It takes a manky kind of person to do that. Perhaps other people realised beforehand that if the changing rooms were closed that they would need to use toilets elsewhere? I can't see why it should be closed really.

If there were not any loos poolside then yanbu...... Or maybe it is always my kids that need a wee once we've got in the pool. I wouldn't fancy walking wet through the cafe and reception!

Sounds like a nuisance OP but they'd probably get criticised for closing the pool when people could change elsewhere.

Are there showers on the poolside? I think they should have warned you about the loo situation.

I agree that they should have told you about the showers and loo situation with the temporary changing rooms, then you would have had a choice.

I would therefore have gone elsewhere with DD, but probably would have used the pool if I was on my own.

Massively first world problem OP....you've got a pool. Be happy. Sometimes shit happens to stop our usual comfort. Deal with it.

As long as the shit isn't in the pool, Mrs.

Maybe there should be a notice telling everyone about the loo/shower situation, but other than that YABU

The loo situation isn't too bad but I wouldn't be happy to use a pool with no shower facilities. Are there pool side showers at least?

Has it not occurred to you that some people would rather not miss out on a swim than miss out on a toilets and showers conveniently located after their swim?

People like this mean next time the pool will be closed completely when they need to change a light bulb. YABU.

Yep, I know. Cheers OP. I just love a round trip of 72 miles because someone has complained.

Eh, it's not worth closing the swimming pool for, no. Most leisure centres have poolside changing and dry-changing rooms for the other sports - surely there were other showers somewhere?
