My SIL only baths a couple of times a year and I've never known her to smell bad. She just strip washes or uses baby wipes.

Used to be the norm a couple of generations ago, apart from bath night once a week! I don't see a problem with it myself, apart from perhaps in the height of summer.

I used baby wipes to wash when there was no other option - it really didn't keep me clean. Being able to have a shower afterwards was a big relief.

I'm trying to think what I personally would want, and I definitely wouldn't want my only option to be a bowl and a flannel. If someone chooses to wash like that that's different. Lying, yes, other people.

My 2 year old gets a wash on nights where he doesn't really need a bath.

It's just hot water and wash stuff on a flannel? Not sure what the big deal is!

He gets a bath if he's actually dirty!

I spent 4 years in a cold-water flat without bath or shower and counted myself lucky to have an inside (although shared) toilet. Washing had to be done with water heated in the kettle - so Yes, a strip wash was what I did.

Not everyone has options.

Oh of course it isn't a lecture. I have to give people strip washes as part of my job as there isn't the allocated time to give them a shower. So most people would surely prefer to have a proper shower rather than a wash with a bowl?

we had them for a week over christamas when the boiler had broken, don't think we smelt, mind you we had that many layers on you probably couldnt tell anyway.

I don't feel as clean with a strip wash than I do with a shower or bath. Plus it takes just as long as having a shower.

Now thats a different issue. If you look on the nursing pay threadtheres some posts about how sad it is theres considered no time to give people a bath and how sad that is

My kids have a wash like this every morning.

Bath and hair wash is twice a week.

Their clothes are clean on every day as are their pyjamas usually. Beds are stripped and washed weekly.

I don't see what the problem is here OP? They aren't dirty.
