Dog rolled in human poo this morning. AIBU to offer him up to some lovely tolerant MNetter?

And here I thought there was nothing worse than a dog having a good roll in fox poo. There is. Human poo. Bloody dog. angry

We were having such a nice walk this morning and I was being terribly smug with myself because our dog is finally growing out of his need to greet every single dog we meet. Then he went and spoiled it by running into the woods and coming out again covered in what was not the poo of any animal. I'm guessing one of the fishermen from the resevoir had gone in the woods.

Anyone want him? Will consider swaps with teenage children who just want to lie about all day.

tabulahrasa Sun 10-May-15 12:20:16

Could be worse...he could have eaten it...

AlpacaLypse Sun 10-May-15 12:21:20

Sorry Taz, I think I'll keep the teenage children who just lie about all day!

Meanwhile have you managed to get him clean and de-stinky?

Taz1212 Sun 10-May-15 12:24:41

I suspect he might have eaten it as well. angry

Yes, he's had a bath and I've bought tomato passata in case it's clear he needs another one after he is dry. I'll throw in £50 for the teenage children, Alpaca grin

Urgh that is pretty grim.

I think you win but can second place go to my cat who vomited on the baby mat? I also popped the baby on the vomit before noticing (vomit was everywhere on all the toys, etc.).

Mine has done this, she has her technique perfected with a face slide into it, good slither and roll to make sure one side is coated before she slithers and rolls up the other side to even the horror of it out! Foul beasts they are, and yet we still for some unfathomable reason, love them!

winewolfhowls Sun 10-May-15 14:11:18

Chicken poo is the worst poo so could be worse

AgentProvocateur Sun 10-May-15 14:26:12

Yuk, I'll keep my lazy teenagers thanks. wink

tobysmum77 Sun 10-May-15 14:27:59

That is truly grim.

EponasWildDaughter Sun 10-May-15 14:32:02

Ugh.

You know i miss having dogs

until i read a thread like this grin

desertmum Sun 10-May-15 14:55:45

you can have my stinky-never-cleans-his-room-or-changes-his-sheets-did-I-mention-stinky teenager - at least you can wash the dog - DSs room needs a full decontamination by a biohazard team - and the 50 quid will pay for a nice night out - I've packed his sarnies and he is ready to go . . .. grin

Idefix Sun 10-May-15 15:08:49

Yabu op think you can keep him grin
On the bright side I don't think human poo is as bad as fox poo from a smell perspective...tomato ketchup is a really good odour neutraliser, apply to wet fur, rub in and shampoo off after a minute.

Taz1212 Sun 10-May-15 15:25:16

Excellent! desertmum and I have a swap! Stinky teenager sounds much more appealing than stinky dog today!

desertmum Sun 10-May-15 15:48:48

Taz - it's all relative isn't it? a couple of days with stinky teenager and you will be begging for stinky dog back and vice versa - perhaps we should start a business where we co-ordinate stinky [name of item/person] swapping - we could charge lots and become millionaires

SuburbanRhonda Sun 10-May-15 15:56:32

What's with the tomato passata?

<not a dog owner, obviously>

propelusagain Sun 10-May-15 16:02:34

No thanks.

I love dogs but don't have one due to their filthy habits.
I dislike housework. Dogs bring in al sorts of dirt and filth, dig up your garden and are generally dirty.

Idefix Sun 10-May-15 16:13:57

The vinegar in the ketchup (at least I think it is that component) neutralises the smell and the tomatoey part helps it to stay on the coat long enough.

Fox poo reeks, and my dog loves it!

Tippytappytoes Sun 10-May-15 17:20:16

Mine has rolled in human poo twice. 1st time (courtesy of some campers) I was not too far from my house and could walk back but the 2nd time (courtesy of God knows who, but they thought enough ahead to bring loo roll) I had to put him back in my car sad

You know, fox, badger, cow, hedgehog... I don't mind so much now.

desertmum Wed 13-May-15 06:10:16

all is well Taz you are saved from stinky teenager - he has cleaned his room ! It's amazing what the threat of having wifi switched off will do - so can keep stinky dog after all smile

But you promised you'd swap!

He drove me batty on Monday morning as well. I took him through a different woods and he ran off and them came back with a dead squirrel in full rigor mortis in his mouth. I tried to act all cool about about it, figuring if I got him home with it I could then deal with it. He must have seen my initial reaction though because he went from proudly bouncing along toward me to, "Oh no! She's going to make me drop it! No way! It's mine!" It took me half an hour of sitting on a tree stump before he lost enough interest to leave it alone and come home.

Bloody dog!

LetThereBeCupcakes Wed 13-May-15 07:39:54

Taz how do you stop the dog from eating the passatta?

<misses point spectacularly>

Taz1212 Wed 13-May-15 07:48:43

grin I don't really. He loves passatta but only manages to lick a bit off while I'm rubbing it in so it won't do him much harm. I grew up in rural New England and we had a family of skunks who lived quite close to the house (they'd come to eat from our compost pile every night- very cute when they had babies!). Our dogs were constantly pestering them and coming home stinking, needing tomato baths so I suppose it could be worse. grin Plus at least we don't have porcupines here!

paddypants13 Wed 13-May-15 09:39:47

Our dog once rolled in what we suspect was deer wee years ago. My dad just thought it was a puddle until they got in the car. It was the most vile thing I have ever smelt.

I could swap you stinky dog for cat who brings in dead and alive gifts for us. I can promise you hours of clearing up selected guts or chasing live wild animals around your house!

Booboostoo Wed 13-May-15 12:48:50

Shitty things come to those who wait: our septic tank had a problem this morning and both dogs have now rolled in human sewage. Lovely.
