WIBU to serve chicken kiev with garlic bread and salad?

Backstory: I've got a six month old DS who sleeps really badly, so I'm permanently shattered. I've just put him to bed, and my partner is on a call for work. We usually cook together, or he cooks while I get the baby to bed.

We were planning enchiladas for dinner, which DP usually cooks. I really can't face doing it myself, so I was going to stick chicken kievs in the oven and serve them with potato wedges and salad. But the potatoes I had in the cupboard have gone bad. So would I be unreasonable to serve the chicken kievs with garlic bread and salad instead? Or should I suck it up and go and buy more potatoes? The shop is a ten minute drive away. Bear in mind that DS is likely to wake up at least once before 9pm and then possibly even 45 minutes after that for the rest if the night.

Er, I don't really know what you're asking?
Kiev with gb and salad sounds like a delicious, filling meal for a knackered day. Do it and enjoy the garlic fest! (can I come round?)

Not at all confused

AnyFucker Fri 08-May-15 19:39:02

what might happen of you serve kiev with garlic bread ?

Madamecastafiore Fri 08-May-15 19:39:04

Do you have any couscous or savoury rice. Better for you with Kiev and salad.

Coumarin Fri 08-May-15 19:39:15

Yes that's what my confused face was for. I'm not seeing the problem unless there's something you missed out.

I'm asking because I'm too tired to make a decision... Your blessing on my garlic fest has brought a little smile to my face after a hard day with a grumpy baby.

Why would it BU to have Kiev's with garlic bread and salad?

StarlingMurmuration Fri 08-May-15 19:39:53

No couscous, no rice. I just thought it might be too much garlic.

How bad have they gone if they are not complete mush they would be fine for wedges but cook what you have I love chicken yanbu to cook what is easiest

StarlingMurmuration Fri 08-May-15 19:40:30

Or a bit of a weird combination.... I don't know. I'm really tired.

IHaveBrilloHair Fri 08-May-15 19:40:54

Nothing wrong with that.

StarlingMurmuration Fri 08-May-15 19:41:27

Oh fuck. He's woken up already. Ho hum.

Mrsjayy Fri 08-May-15 19:41:55

Chicken kiev*

Coumarin Fri 08-May-15 19:42:26

Ah, gotcha. Food choices do get really hard when you're shattered for some reason.

No such thing as too much garlic imo. It sounds very nice to me. smile

I know what it's like to be so tired that even the most normal and simple decision is beyond you flowers

The meal sounds lovely and when you are that tired the main thing is to eat.
Enjoy

Mrsjayy Fri 08-May-15 19:43:27

Oh has he You poor bugger no peace phone a take away

yorkshapudding Fri 08-May-15 19:48:31

Sounds absolutely fine, I certainly wouldn't be contemplating cooking anything from scratch on a weeknight with a sleepless baby. Stick the garlic bread in the oven and pour yourself a big drink. Or better still ring for a takeaway and put your feet up wine

GloGirl Fri 08-May-15 19:49:05

Have a bowl of cereal.

FadedRed123 Fri 08-May-15 19:50:47

Sounds fine to me - and it will keep the vampires away, so that's one less thing to worry about..........grin

OttiliaVonBCup Fri 08-May-15 19:51:08

It's Friday evening. Anything goes.
Go garlic mad.

Highlandbird Fri 08-May-15 19:55:35

You sound tired starling, I remember it well, both my DS' were bad sleepers and it's so hard making any decisions when you're that shattered! Hope you enjoy your garlic fest and have some winegrin

formerbabe Fri 08-May-15 19:58:52

the potatoes I had in the cupboard have gone bad

I keep potatoes in the fridge... I find they last longer.

But anyway, your meal sounds absolutely fine... Or if you're shattered, get a takeaway!

I also have a 6 month old who doesn't sleep. I am as tired as you sound.

We're having takeaway pizzas. Dh invited a guest at the last minute for TWO nights this weekend hmm I refuse to cook and dh would faff indefinitely deciding what to cook and I am so hungry

Hope we both get to eat. Yours sounds delicious.

Are you kidding?

Kiev's + garlic bread + salad is a great meal.

Or a bowl or cereal, soup, omelets - give yourself a break!
