To think the news about the royal baby is completely outweighed by the death of Rio Ferdinand's wife at just 34

The news is full of the royal birth but I've just read about Rio Ferndinad's wife and found it so so sad.

She was just 34 with 3 children and was taken by the bastard that is cancer.

It just makes you realise how fragile life is.

why would one outweigh the other?

its very tragic, but its also the first female heir to the throne, and Princess born in 50 years.

I think they both stand equally as important in their own right.

Hissy · 02/05/2015 20:08

Oh bless her, 34? That's terrible, know she was young, but that's just awful.

My thoughts are with everyone that knew her. Sad

hackmum · 02/05/2015 20:08

" its also the first female heir to the throne, and Princess born in 50 years."

Surely not? What about Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie?

I agree, very sad about Rio Ferdinand's wife. Very very young.

ThisStopsRightNow · 02/05/2015 20:10

YANBU. I know whose family my thoughts are with tonight.

SirSpamalot · 02/05/2015 20:12

First princess for 50 years in the direct line maybe. Beatrice, Eugene and Louise (yes, she is a Princess, she just uses the courtesy title of the daughter of an Earl).

Rebecca's death is tragic. RIP.

SirSpamalot · 02/05/2015 20:12

Eugenie

TrollshaveLittleWillies · 02/05/2015 20:14

It is very sad news about Rebecca Ferdinand. I'm totally uninterested in the royal family but I understand why it is the top story.

It's really sad that she died, but perhaps her family would be upset to see her plastered all over the news, it's probably too upsetting for her family, so yes I'd rather see a new baby and someone's happiness. And it's definitely a refreshing change from politicians!

Bearbehind · 02/05/2015 20:15

Outweighed might be the wrong word.

Maybe 'tainted' is better or something else.

I just think it's so tragic that such a shitty disease can take someone so young with so much to live for.

As someone else said, I know where my thoughts are tonight.

They are two completely different events. I was shocked by the news of Rio's wife and unexpectedly cheered by the royal birth (not a royalist). The safe delivery of any baby is happy news.

IrianofWay · 02/05/2015 20:17

that's a big daft isn't it? Totally unconnected stories Confused

Very sad about Ferdinand's wife.

LokiBear · 02/05/2015 20:17

I think the Ferdinand family will be glad that the Royal baby is receiving all of the news coverage. All they need right now is privacy and as little media attention as possible. It s tragic, but it is their tragedy and they have a right to be left in peace whilst they try to comprehend it.

Babies are born every day
Tragically, young women die every day too.

squoosh · 02/05/2015 20:37

Tragic news about Rebecca Ferdinand. 34 is no age.

Heartbreaking for Rio and their three young children.

sugarman · 02/05/2015 20:39

Not at all. Only something like a catastrophe of Nepal proportions could rival the royal baby news in England.

ajandjjmum · 02/05/2015 20:42

Really sad for the Ferdinand family - they have so much, but couldn't have what was most important.

Lovely news for the Royal family, but completely different.

drbonnieblossman · 02/05/2015 20:42

I've seen the news re RF's wife numerous times today. Also he put out a statement asking for privacy so hopefully for his and their family's sake there won't be much more on it. Very very sad news indeed.

Bearbehind · 02/05/2015 20:42

I find that attitude quite sickening sugarman

I understand why the royal baby news is making more headlines, but I also suspect that Rio and his family will not mind at all. He is someone who genuinely does want privacy and I believe the family will just want to grieve their wife, mother, daughter, sister in peace.

I know what you mean though in that it has been playing on my mind all day. I heard about Rebecca's death just before I heard the baby had been born and, for want of a better word, it has tainted it. I've been tearful about it all day.

BreeVDKamp · 02/05/2015 20:56

Yes I was so sad to hear about Rio Ferdinand's wife. Heard about the royal baby about half an hour later. Both been flitting in and out of my mind today, I'm not sure Rio Ferdinand's wife's death would ever have got as much coverage as the royal baby, and they are completely unrelated, so I don't think one has overshadowed the other.

So sad though and it sounds like it happened really quickly! Poor family.

MajesticWhine · 02/05/2015 21:10

I don't think these news items need to compete with each other. It's shocking to hear of the death of a young woman and mum. But I'm glad of the safe arrival of the baby. No conflict whatsoever between the two, for me.

AdeleDazeem · 02/05/2015 21:18

Don't forget it's David Beckhams birthday weekend too. #DB40
Hmm

Bearbehind · 02/05/2015 21:19

They do compete with each other in the sense that you can't be overjoyed by one thing when another is in your thoughts.

I'm quite frankly disgusted that some feels unless thousands of people die then it doesn't rank with the birth of one particular child.
