Biscuit

Why is this used to mean no comment/ is that really what people mean when they use it?
(sorry technologically inept)

I thought it meant 'well, that really takes the biscuit', meaning ridiculous and petty.

I think it was originally something to do with Gordon Brown being asked what his favourite kind of biscuit wasn't it?

Just searched and it came up with something about a live web chat on which GB persistantly refused to answer what his fave biscuit was.

As Amy says, there was a live web-chat with GB back in the day and he ignored the question on his favourite biscuit. this being MN, lots of people asked the same question and it is now MN shorthand for a snub.

the biscuit thing is amusing and refers to a snub of some sort.

what really grates on me is the obligatory 'have my very first Biscuit '

don't know why people have to advertise their very first?

I think it's loosing your mn inhibitions / virginity. I try to remember if I want to snub I just close the thread. But I guess when the rage is high, the keyboard beckons sometimes.

It means 'no comment', but people seem to use it instead of saying 'fuck off' or 'I don't believe a word of this.'
