AIBU?

Male friend revealed something worrying when he was drunk. AIBU to think this is really creepy and needs reporting?

He's a plumber and works for a small company that has a contract with several rental companies. When very drunk, he told me and another friend that he and colleagues play a 'game' when they're in people's houses that involves stealing a pair of women's dirty knickers and bringing them back as a trophy. Once a month they show each other their 'trophies' allocate points and whoever scores highest gets free drinks all night (the sexier the style and the dirtier/smellier the knickers the more points it gets). BTW friend is in his late 30s and not the type you would ever imagine to do something like this. Other friend was shocked but laughed and said she'd move her laundry basket out of bathroom next time a plumber came. She says its just silly fun that all men get up to!

Am I being prudish to be horrified?

I'd be horrified too. It's disgusting and perverted.

That's disgusting and a massive invasion of privacy. I would be informing management at their company and if they do nothing then the companies they do work for.

Aaargh!!!! Jesus!!!! That is absolutely revolting! Trophies? Wtaf? The comtempt, the derision these men must feel for actual real-life women! Christ! And "She says its just silly fun that all men get up to!" No. It's theft. It's harassment. It's objectifying these women without their knowledge and definitely without their consent. No, OP, YANBU or prudish. Not at all.

You have to ask?

No, of course not. It is revolting. It is an invasion of privacy and it is massively disrespectful.

I would think a lot less of any friend of mine who did such a thing.

Nope not all prudish. It is a gross invasion privacy and pretty gross full stop.
Also stupidly childish for a man of 30. Sad wankers.
How would they feel if it was their mum's / sister's /daughter's /partner's undies?
Whilst it may be a victimless crime in terms of few women noticing, it is still a huge violation. As for how smelly they are, fuck me, if they actually sniff them that is unbelievably rank. Even I baulk at doing that if I am not sure whether a pair is dirty or not. The mind boggles. I am sure they would have a great time finding knickers at my house but as none could be described as sexy skimpy bright or classy I reckon I am safe. Smelly on the other hand.Wink

I would be putting this information round anyone that I new so that they didn't employ that firm.

That is awful. If you have the courage I'd find a way to publicly/locally name and shame the company.

Well really what adult women have 'really dirty smelly knickers' lying around the house.

Sounds like bollicks to me op.

Anyway you have absolutely no proof and he will just say you are a liar if indeed it's true.

Why not ask him again when he's sober?

StupidBloodyKindle · 23/04/2015 14:44

I think now he is sober you ask him that question...how he would feel if one of his mates was brandishing his mum's knickers...

Report
CaptainAnkles · 23/04/2015 14:44

Revolting, inappropriate, and presumably illegal, seeing as how it's theft after all. I'm surprised he would tell anybody about it, actually.
