Hi long time lurker, 'first time poster'.

I have read this site many times , but never posted before !.

I believe that grammar schools are the only thing the state provides, that are worth 'using' if available. I am therefore grateful i relocated to Kent from Sussex (Comprehensive system) and that my two girls DD1 year 10 and DD2 year 8 have benefited from Kent's excellent selective system !.

However, I know many on here will disagree and say the 'modern' schools are unfit for purpose and do not properly educate the remaining 75% of students. I agree that there are a 'few' students in Modern schools, who should be educated in a grammar school environment, but the majority are in the right school. There is also a chance of a ' Heads Appeal' if the pupil for whatever reason has not achieved their potential on the 11+ test, so i believe unlike many on here that the Kent Test is fair.

The best thing about living in (Maidstone) and where my brother lives Rochester are the excellent 'Grammar' schools that save my family £30k per year in fees.

The Best thing about Kent is its grammar schools and the opportunities they offer their pupils, unavailable to people brought up in 'selective' counties.
