AIBU?

Should I stay with this baby?

I'm at a theme park... A family consisting of 2 adults, 2 children around 9/10 and a baby around 1 in a buggy have just pushed the baby towards a railing, left their child in it, and all gone off to queue for a ride that's at least 30 minutes queuing time and out of sight.

(I know this because my DD and her godfather are in the queue and I've already been waiting 30 minutes.)

I can't believe people would do this??

Maybe report to security in the park? There must be loads of staff around.

I would find security and report an abandoned baby. I'd say it happens all the time though.

I would find a member of staff and report it.

I would go and notify one of the theme park staff that you have noticed a baby unattended for over 30 minutes.

Thats outrageous!

Good grief!

Report the unattended child to staff asap. Anyone within sight? If not, do it as soon as DD is back and you/Godfather can keep an eye out whilst t'other fetches staff.

Yes, what honey said. How old is the baby roughly? Are you sure no one is keeping an eye on the baby?

Report
Mrscog · 31/03/2015 14:27

Are you with someone who can stay and someone you can dispatch who can report to security? Outrageous!

Blowninonabreeze · 31/03/2015 14:28

Agree with report, but first check carefully that it isn't one of those awful dolls! Grin

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 31/03/2015 14:28

Bloody hell. Report immediately.

Mrscog · 31/03/2015 14:28

Sorry - I've just noticed you're on your own - in that case do what AuntieStella says.

Report
FenellaFellorick · 31/03/2015 14:28

go find security and get them to deal with it.

SuperFlyHigh · 31/03/2015 14:29

If it's a real child report.

Haven't these idiots heard of baby snatchers not to mention if something was to happen to the baby.

Jesus Christ this has made me physically shudder. How easy it would be for someone to take that child! Especially in a crowded place. Who on earth would do that?

Yes of course stay with the baby but also report it to staff, or even police? So, so dangerous.

Report
AuntieDee · 31/03/2015 14:31

That's absolutely ridiculous! Please report this to security :(

The baby hasn't been unattended for 30 mins yet, OP thinks that's what the queue will take.

Still shocking though.
They just upped and buggered off?

Report
TarkaTheOtter · 31/03/2015 14:35

Is the queue out of sight or just the ride?

Do people really think of mumsnet as the first port of call when they are in a situation like this? On a family day out, with other adults, they see something that isn't good and think they'll start a thread.

On a family day out.

With other adults to consult.

As well as their own common sense.

On the other hand, Stampy, at least the OP is doing something . I assume many others in the park are oblivious.

AuntieStella · 31/03/2015 14:47

Well, if OP's sitting alone, MNetting to pass the time, asking here might be a way of occupying a few minutes whilst she sees if someone comes back.

The 'other adults to consult' are us?

IhateStampysVoice · 31/03/2015 14:47

She is posting on mumsnet. How much could the baby appreciate the thread?

Did she think the replies were all going to be "Nah its cool, leave the kid. It'll fine." ?

Surely she could know the answer?

The other adult is the godfather of her child. I assume he is an adult, if he was taking the DD on a ride.

Anyway, Im really not bothered. I was just thinking aloud really. Threads like this always baffle me. It just wouldn't enter my brain to MN outside my house. Let alone during a family putting.

Seems a bit premature if they've "just" left - maybe the family are going to take it in turns to come back and stay with the baby?

They've been gone 15/20 minutes now... And I was just sitting on mumsnet with my pram while I waited for my DD and my friend to come back... I'm not with anyone else and there were no staff near me.

I spoke about it with another woman waiting with a pram and she said how terrible it was and walked away.

Actually, more like 25. And my DD is still not back so it's a longer queue than I thought.
