AIBU?

AIBU to think that my hormones dictate how much I get done?

Just finished my period. Sitting trying to watch TV but feeling antsy and wanting to a) do some craft work b) put some clothes away c) do some online banking and d) read. For the week after my period I get loads done, housework, work work, admin-y stuff, catching up with people. I cannot sit still.

From then on it is a slow decline to the few days before my period when I cannot be arsed to do anything at all and everything is a fricking effort. If the dishes get done that night instead of next morning that's an achievement. Then I have AF, then it goes and I am INVINCIBLE

AIBU?

Same here. I took my pill packets back to back this month though and seem to have gone extreme, no AF but the oven is clean and I've decorated a bedroom Grin

I'm always impressed with people who notice this kind of pattern in their behaviour - it took me about six months to work out that I am allergic to pineapple because I just didn't put together what I had been eating with the reactions I was getting and I've only ever noticed pregnancy symptoms retrospectively once I've done a test!

It sounds perfectly reasonable that your hormones affect your mood and motivation - can you plan your tasks around it and get a month's work done in a week?

Don't know about being unreasonable but I am complete opposite.

Finish period and get a bit headachey and feel like I have to drag my sorry arse around and get everything done. Am great for a few days then I ovulate and feel like I have a thick head for a few days, then I am premenstrual and get loads done, although often feel crap and knackered too.

Make the most of it Grin

A clean oven Shock The zenith!

I almost feel like I do get the month's work done in one week - in that week I never procrastinate, sort things out straight away, whereas normally I put everything off til the last minute.

Poor you mizu, the only good thing about AF is the knowledge I will feel great when it has gone.

Are you on the pill wooowoo22?

This is very familiar. I think the laundry to put away tracks my period better than my half arsed attempts to. Right now the laundry is a huge pile threatening to fall and I think it's a bit late.

No, not on anything. Lone parent and staying that way for the forseeable it looks like.

Do you think the pill would make me invincible for the whole month JumpRope? Grin

This is me. I also have unbreakable will power the week after, no diet or exercise regime is too extreme. 7 days later I'm back struggling with Victoria sponge and cheese and crackers.

I get like this too. I get loads done in the week after AF then I feel okay and get most things done for a week, then it slowly declines to the week before a period and I get quite bad pms and I'm like a bear with a sore head and don't want to do anything but can force myself. When I've got a period I can barely move off the sofa and even then it's only to get chocolate.

They need to find the hormone that gives the motivated feeling and sell it in pill form. I'd never get behind on uni stuff again.

Lone parent here too but I'm considering going on the pill if it gives me invincibility powers! I've been thinking about it for a while as a kind of mood stabiliser. I think I'm only avoiding it because I have a history of mood/motivation issues stretching back years and it would be a kick in the stomach to find out I could've sorted it out years ago fairly easily.

Yes yes to the laundry pile menstrual cycle tracker. And how long the washing up sits there for too.

Perhaps we should go on it misselphaba. Would be annoying but motivation every day and week would be amazing!

You should read Woman Code by Alissa Vitti - an endocrinoligist specialising in female hormones, she suggests not only guidelines for what to eat at different times of the month but also what tasks are best done when. It's fascinating stuff!
