Its making my eyes water. I haven't broached it yet but we have a birthday party to go to later.

AIBU to engineer a weetabix accident over breakfast?

How old is he?

PandasRock · 01/03/2015 07:49

How old is he?

Actually no, scrub that. Does it really matter? He has chosen what he wants to wear. He's either small enough to get away with the explosion in a paint factory look, or old enough to be expressing individualism.

YABU.

Jenni2legs · 01/03/2015 07:50

I think leave him, it sounds cute.

MrsTawdry · 01/03/2015 07:50

Why are people asking his age? If he's old enough to dress himself why can't he choose what he wears?

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 01/03/2015 07:51

Sounds great! Leave him be.

MinceSpy · 01/03/2015 07:51

Did you buy the offending items?

silverstreak · 01/03/2015 07:52

I think it sounds cool too! :) and definitely original.... The next gok?! ;)

TallboyMcChesty · 01/03/2015 07:52

Red and purple look good together if there's a lot of blue in both of them. The boy's got style Wink

Timeforabiscuit · 01/03/2015 07:53

Nah! Leave him to it - if he's chosen the outfit it will remain immaculate in the most unlikely of scenarios.

Nobody really cares do they?

Cunderthunt · 01/03/2015 07:53

That's hilarious!! If you really can't stand it go for sabotage. Do you think he just threw it on or spent ages deciding? Could make a difference in how you play it!

SummerHouse · 01/03/2015 07:55

Pandas love that response.

Op - roll with it. Go and put on a load of clashing cloths yourself. embrace it. See if he notices. Grin

Mehitabel6 · 01/03/2015 07:59

When they were little my DH used to dress them in the most odd combinations- I didn't interfere!
Just leave him.

Mehitabel6 · 01/03/2015 08:00

I think Pandas has it.

CruCru · 01/03/2015 08:02

Red and purple look great together.

bullseyebraces · 01/03/2015 08:02

My dad used to criticise my outfits. I hated it.

londonrach · 01/03/2015 08:02

Sounds like hes experimenting. Let him be. Im sure you experimented with different clothes. Only way of learning. Do like his choice. More interesting than blue jeans and black t shirt...

PandasRock · 01/03/2015 08:04

Yep, same here, mehitabel.

Yesterday, ds was wearing clashing shades of green - green trousers, different green tshirt. But he still looked fab. He's 2. It was all covered in porridge in no time at all, which muted the effect somewhat Wink

JuniperTisane · 01/03/2015 08:05

Ok I'll leave him be. til just before we go out and I spill water down his trousers

And btw, OP, where did you get the red trousers from? Dd1 has just outgrown her cherry red trousers (she's 10) and can't find anymore.

Mind you, ds is outgrowing all his and I struggled the other week to get him anything other than denim. Why do shops shun bright colours for children?

Vivacia · 01/03/2015 08:07

I want your son's clothing choices to have a fan club, and I want to be the first member.

DinnerDinnerDinnerDinnerBatman · 01/03/2015 08:07

LOL! I'd make him change if it was really bad because I am mean like that. I have been known to 'see' imaginary stains on things so that dc have to change whichever part of the outfit is most heinous. Dd (11yrs) is still not averse to a stripes and floral combination which is a bit eye watering. I struggle between the 'crushing their individuality' v 'not letting them go out looking like a colour-blind scarecrow'

SummerHouse · 01/03/2015 08:08

My ds left the house in camouflage wellies, a spiderman outfit and a pair of safety goggles. We just act like that's perfectly normal.

He looks good. The colours do go and arent as bad as you say. If you really dont want him to go out like that. accidentally drop water on his clothes 5 minutes before going out

Remind · 01/03/2015 08:10

See, now I think that looks OK - very similar to what DS1's trendier mates wear.

DS1 has no interest at all in clothes and when younger would come downstairs in tracksuit trousers and a smart shirt saying "what, they're both blue?!"

Now he's 13, not caring about clothes is a very good thing indeed, especially for his parents' pocket!
