AIBU?

AIBU to think it should be easier to buy fragrance-free deodorant?

Can't believe I've just bought a pack of 6 roll-on, fragrance free Simple deodorants from Amazon! However, local supermarkets and pharmacies just don't seem to stock any fragrance free products.

And no, I don't have sensitive skin - I just don't like tacky perfumes.

Is it just me that gets cross about this?

Do you prefer roll-on? I use either saner sensitive or Mitchum sensitive which are both fragrance free.

Ooh good, glad for a thread about this ad I would love options. Ice been using a fragrance free one by Arm and Hammer, but it had a faint whiff of something. .. like the way sensitive face wash smells... just odd! Is very good though at protecting shaken sweat smells.

Waitrose have an own brand fragrance free. And at least one of the Nivea range is fragrance free too (and pretty widely available) and I think that some Sanex ones are too (sensitive range?) and at least one Mitchum (an unscented stick)

Ocado carry various unscented green ranges.

Is Pitrok unscented?

Mum does a fragrance free roll-on. Not sold in Tesco or Sainsbury's, but you can get it in Boots and Superdrug. I went off perfumed deodorant when I was pregnant with DC1 and havne't been able to stomach them since (over 17 years now). Where did you get the Arm and Hammer one, Happiness? Love their toothpaste. Wondering if their deodorant is as good and does it have bicarb in it?

I use pitrok crystal deodorant. Amazing and has lasted so far for over dix months and its still a big crystal.

No scent, no wetness. Just feels natural.

I can't wear scented deodorants they don't work on me.

I use Nivea sensitive and pure, it has no fragrance at all and you can buy it at tesco.

I have used Boots own brand fragrance free roll on deodorant for at least 20 years. Cheap as chips.

I use pitrock crystal too, my friend recommended it and I was sceptical at first but it's brilliant.

Pitrock is a find. Can't reccommend more highly.

I too use Pitrok, brilliant stuff. A successful mumsnet recommended purchase!

If you're looking online it might help to limit your search to fragrance free anti-perspirant. As I understand it the perfumed bit is the deodorant, not that we don't all use "deodorant" as the general name, but retailers might make the distinction I don't know?

Mitchum do fragrance free. It's not hard to get hold of.

Are you looking for a deodorant or an antiperspirant (which is what most if those mentioned so far actually are). I don't use an antiperspirant as they generally contain aluminium and other stuff that I would rather not use. I use a stick deodorant by Jasön, the Tea Tree one is quiet inoffensiveSmile

Agree, Pitrok is great. I use the spray version though.

Mitchum have a fragrance free one that is in Boots.

It's really easy to get hold of. Much easier now than in past. I have a perfume allergy and it used to be a nightmare getting stuff.
And online gives you more choice if you want it.

I use the fragrance free Mitchum (my local Tesco stores it) or the Waitrose own brand. I tried the Nivea one but it was no good. They are much easier to find now than a few years ago. Same goes for shampoo and conditioner, at least now there are a few easily available and not too dreadful ones instead of having to put up with the awful Simple.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've always used Simple just because it's easy to spot, if it's there, and relatively cheap. Nothing worse than standing in front of a shelf of hundreds of products in the supermarket trying to spot the ones that are fragrance free, even if they do tend to be the ones in the plainer packaging.

However, I'll be happy to switch brands. I was put off Simple by an interview on Radio 4 a few years back of the Hedge Fund owner of Simple, who was actually scoffing at his own customers for having imaginary "sensitive skin". I felt like shouting at the radio - "no, we just don't like perfume!".

I make a lot of my own toiletries as I like to avoid harmful chemicals especially aluminium which is linked to Alzheimer's .

For deoderant I use coconut oil. Some days I use a spray or two of magnesium oil which is brilliant and also delivers a shot of much needed magnesium.

Some days I mix coconut oil with a little essential oil, usually lavender but I realise the op doesn't like fragrance.

Check some of the crystal deoderants . Some say alum which I'm not convinced doesn't contain aluminium.

We live in a very polluted world and it's hard to do much about it so I think the less chemicals you put on your body or in your body the better.

Scholes, I buy it from amazon. Is expensive £4 or £5 but it lasts forever, and I think it does have baking soda in it!

I tried Pitrock and its anti perspirant properties nearly made me over heat as it didn't actually allow me to sweat. Very odd sensation but I guess it was just doing its job!

Mitchum roll on unscented is my deodorant of choice as when I'm pregnant I can't bear the smell of spray deodorants. Got into it in my first pregnancy and never looked back.
