AIBU to ask my upstairs neighbours to not put the tumble dryer or washing machine on at 6.37am. The wallls/falls are paper thin can even hear them pluggiing things in kinda. would it be rude to poilety ask them not to be selfish and wake me up so early?

YANBU! They likely don't realise that it is so loud (unless they also have folk upstairs then they are being selfish twats). I think it is a reasonable request.

I'd be pretty miffed, most working people are up about 6.30 so everyone I know is having showers, using hairdryers and putting the dishwasher on.

If they go out to work they probably think putting them on in the morning is preferable to putting them on in the evening in terms of disturbance to neighbours.

I often use the timer to make my machines come on early morning so that when I get downstairs they're ready for me to sort before going to work. I think at that time during the week, you have to expect normal household noise.

Bloody hell, 6:30am would be far too early for me, I'd no idea people would think that was reasonable!

This reminds me of growing up: everyone insisting mornings were the best part of the day and you had to get up early. Dad got up at 4. 4 is not early. 4 is the fucking middle of the NIGHT!

And I am not pleasant to be around before 7:30. I do NOT like being disturbed in the restful time between 5 and 8!

I think YANBU (except maybe the title! )
I wouldn't - we are in a kind of terrace and hardly hear our neighbour's at all but I wouldn't put the washing machine before 8.30am (so spin after 9) or later than 8.30pm - last spin at the very latest 10pm.
I nearly put a later wash on the other day but just couldn't - even at the moment when the immediate neighbouring houses are empty (one on the market, other on extended holiday)...
No-one needs to put a washing machine on at 6.30am ...unless they work weird shifts...what's wrong with putting it on at 6.30pm?
OP might work evening shifts -not get to bed before midnight ...maybe they should put their washing on then?

We'd be on our way out by that time, so that is what time it goes on if we leave it as late as possible.

Ha ha ha at 'stop going to bed altogether!' I'm sure my dad would have if he could. My poor mum got driven mad by him as he'd inevitably fall asleep at 7!

My brother was a night owl who went to bed when my dad was getting up. Dad prowling around at 4am; brother emerging at 4pm Both used to criticise me for getting up between 7 and 8! Only bloody normal one there!

I put mine on when I go downstairs which is anything from 5 onwards thanks to DS2. It's in the utility room though which is attached to next door but theirs isn't part of the house, it's their shed.

the title was a mistake, I didn't intentionally make my self look like a knob! I couldn't think of a title :(
My neighbour leaves before the load finishes at 7.17. Never hear when she's up just the washing machine. I do wander. if I hyper sensitive hearing but then I think no it's bloody noisy!

It's sporadic this week it was Wednesday and Thursday and on the evenings.

PIL are fans of early rising. They're bored by 1 PM because they've done everything. Then they moan they fall asleep in front of the TV at 7:00.

They are baffled on a weekend if they visit at 9:30 and one of us is still in bed.
They also eat dinner at 4:30 which I find bizarre.
