I don't know if it's the same there for you, but my teacher friends try to do one day at the end of the holiday. then they get paid as normal for that holiday and mat leave starts the day after. If that's the case and its possible then you could consider that. Yes they are leaving it late to discuss though, IMO.

i get paid as normal for the school holidays. my maternity leave starts the day we go back on 13th march so it should be as normal pay till then. but yeah i was thinking its a bit long but i have no idea what the norm is. i dont want to loose money/rights because they are fuffing about

You have a month yet before I'd start worrying. It's only the end of January

hi sorry me again i know im probably being really dopey. but im bit worried. area manager has still not spoken to me. as i have handed in my mat b1 will i automatically get some sort of maternity pay. i dont really care what its called as long as i get some money. im worried i could get to the end of the month that i leave and no money in the bank.

Can't you contact him/her if you're concerned, or ask your union rep or line manager after half term?

Are you a Teacher or do you work in a School OP? (or work term time only in another workplace?)

Can you get hold of a copy of your workplace Maternity Policy / Procedure?

How long have you worked there for and how many weeks Pregnant are you now / were you when you handed your MATB1 form in?

Did you give them notice in writing when you first spoke to your Manager?

Sorry lots of questions! You need to give the correct notice in writing at the right time in your pregnancy to be entitled to Maternity leave and pay, just trying to find out more details of where you are up to so far to try and help. Smile

It should be easy enough to work out of you will paid SMP or will have to apply for MA. You needed to be employed before being pregnant and earn at least £110 from memory a week to qualify for SMP. If not, you will need to apply for MA yourself.

yeah i know i will get paid about 75 pounds a week. i just want to make sure im actually going to get the money when i should because no one is telling me anything. i was told the area manager was in last week and she never was. im not sure if its the mat b1 that makes things fall into place or if im meant to be filling in any forms or something. i dont want to leave and go to the bank and there be nothing in there. yes i work term time only in school kitchen
