AIBU?

To think that if you've already had a recording contract that you shouldn't be allowed on The Voiice

What is the point of The Voice if it's not a ground for wannabes to get a leg up.

If it's for has-beens or nearly-were's then it should be a totally different show.

Agree. Are you referring to the Black Lace guy? OH was flicking around the UView and The Voice came on in the corner while he was searching. I kept thinking you're not mentioning the Gang Bang song are you? (Rita, Sue and Bob Too) These shows with their hideous pauses, manipulation and judges v the judgees mentality make me cringe.

I was just saying the exact same thing
Some woman who'd been with Justin Beiber was on, she had a chance, let someone else have a go

Yes- tonight it was the bloke from Black Lace and some woman I've never heard of but who has had recording contracts and it's not the first time.

You could do a whole new show about nearly-were's but surely The Voice/ X factor etc should be for new blood.

The justin beiber woman was horrible. She sells yoghurt and had a fake american accent. She got through. Its not fair on new talent who Need a break.

But you can have had a contract, it all go belly up and still need a new break, no? I don't care / mind if 'second time around' talent has a go. It's telly... entertainment...mindless Saturday night fun.

I think it's fine. The X Factor doesn't allow people to have had previous recording contracts and is open to anybody, if The Voice did the same it would be virtually the same show. Sometimes people get dropped quickly and then never get the chance again. I like seeing old has beens try out and so far none of them have got anywhere anyway other than Cleo but she's disappeared. Although, I don't think anyone at all on The Voice has achieved anything much have they?

I thought the same as I was watching it. It really wasn't very long ago that Esmee Denters released her songs/presumably an album. Surely she still has 'contacts' in the industry and a reasonable fan base. Even if she had to get herself back on YouTube and build herself up again. She has 9.3k followers on Instagram (I don't use twitter so not sure about that). Judging by the 'celebrities' on CBB she still counts as a celebrity. Seems unfair.

I think the BBC are desperate to have a successful singer from this programme and they are casting their nets far and wide in the hope of doing so. Don't forget, in previous years we had West End star Kerry Ellis and one of the 5star girls audition. This doesn't seem all that different apart from the fact Esmee is younger and more likely to appeal to those who buy chart records.

I do know someone who was asked to audition by a Voice talent scout who saw a set she did in a pub. She turned them down, as she has a proper job, she is an archeologist!
