To not know how to measure myself for a bra...

So wonderful Mnetters!

How do i do this? Blush I ususally go to Marks and Spencers and I do love their plung bras. I was last measured at a 38E which is the one I've got now, but I'm 4-boobing it and the rest of me is falling out of it when i bend over --only half my nipple is covered in it anyway Grin however I am 15+4 but hate non-underwired, maternity bras

Go to Bravissimo or John Lewis tgey are very good at measuring. Since I been there I have never had 4 boobs Xmas Grin and the bras fit so well, I will never go to another place again.

I am guessing you will go down band size and up cup sizes OP

Head to Bravisimo if there is one near you. I have been very impressed with them. i am going in on sat to get them to help me-31+3 and finding my current bra's so uncomfortable

I don't get measured, but I take a long time to choose my bras. I take into the changing cubicle a large selection and keep at it until I'm sure the one I favour is really comfortable. I could take an hour or so in total. I know roughly what style I'm after and the approx size, but they do vary enormously. I sit, move about, stretch up and take it on and off, I'm really fussy. I just cannot bear to be uncomfortable in my bra. I'm a 34G but the difference in fit between styles is amazing. Once I've found the best fit, I always buy three.

I usually go to Bravissimo but my nearest one is Brighton and I'm Southampton. I met a wonderful bra fitting woman there who walked in said her name looked at me and said she'd be back came back with a bra and it fitted was very impressed!

However I'm getting 39' underneath and 50' dangling any idea's?

Was so disappointed with Bravissimo. The only place that gave me the dreaded 4 boob. I got the bra for an interview and felt so self conscious on the day and never wore it again. They made me go down a back size and stay the same cup size. No expert but have since heard that you have to go up cup sizes if you go down back sizes.

I think you would start at a 40H or a 38HH
Hope somebody checks if I got this right or not, it's been a while since I have done mine.

So I get 38/40 H (39' under and 50' dangling)

Is that right?

38H or 38HH

Report
LL12 · 01/01/2015 18:23

Start with the 38HH and go from there, it also depends on the make, style and colour.
I found a really nice white bra in M&S in a 34F that fitted wonderfully, then tried the same bra in Black and it was too big even though it was the same style and size.
Mind you I've had the same problem there with jeans as well being different sizes in different colours when they should be the same.

That means no more lovely plunge bras from M&S, however there new bra fitting tool just said I was a 40 F yet only asked for my underband size, then proceeded to ask me what type of shoulders I have, how gappy is my cleavage, if my bust is full, my age, my current bra size, is it underwired, the style where I brought it from, my underband fit, cup size fit, front wire fit and the side of my bra fit :S

God, sounds like they want you to sit an exam just to get a bra.
I want to try bravissimo but also don't have one local to me so it was ASDA or M&S.
The M&S bra is very good and I am very sure that it fits well from following the advice on here and the link.
I did pick up a 34F bra in ASDA and the fit was terrible so until I can get to a good bra shop it has to be M&S for me.

LL12 - I thought it was just me with ASDA! I picked up my right band size and cup at the time and couldn't even get the band up! then tried on bigger cups and bigger band and it was still to small so gave up!

I just tried the M&S tool and it said I was a 36E, strange then that their bra's in that size don't fit well at all, yet 34F does and that is what I actually am.
Their comment that 80% of women are wearing the wrong size bra made me laugh as I thought "well yes, of course they will be if they use your bra guide"

Haha I find their bra's seem to fit when I try them on for the few seconds i have them, I then shop around in store get home with the same size/style she had and bam doesn't really fit!

I've just done that m&s bra fit thing.

I'm a 34f and it put as a 36e, even though I answered all the questions as nothing being wrong........
