I haven't consulted dh and dc yet, I don't think they'll approve but I've had enough of them now! I've had a lovely Christmas but I need to get some order back which won't happen until the decorations come down.
I should leave them really but they are making me panicky!!

Nope, YNBU.

Mine are down already and the place looks so much tidier but so much more dull :(

afreshstartplease · 27/12/2014 19:17

I'm going to do it too

Half dead tree is depressing

iamusuallybeingunreasonable · 27/12/2014 19:19

Oh you misers!!

It's for the kids, keep the magic alive for them Wink

MicrochipsAndMemories · 27/12/2014 19:21

We always take our tree down before New Year so the house is all fresh for the 1st. We also have a real tree and like to put it up on the 1st of December so it's a little dry now.
Looking forward to getting the corner of our room back to stash all the toys in. Grin

flashnorman · 27/12/2014 19:21

Yanbu, I'll be taking ours down tomorrow too. Am sick looking at them!

ohdearitshappeningtome · 27/12/2014 19:21

Mines comes down the weekend after new year!

nickeljrismybabesitter · 27/12/2014 19:22

Yabu.
Leave them up until 12th night (6th jan) like you're supposed to, you misery Xmas Grin

CoffeeTwo · 27/12/2014 19:23

We take ours down before new year. Feels like a nice clean fresh start.

AryaUnderfoot · 27/12/2014 19:23

We are in the middle of major building work and we were temporarily given our living room back by the builders for four days. From Monday we will only have the dining room as living space again. I'm taking the tree down tomorrow. I need the space!

DidoTheDodo · 27/12/2014 19:23

Yanbu. I'm itching to take my decs down.

annoyedofnorwich · 27/12/2014 19:24

I'm guessing you all put your stuff up weeks ago so you're fed up of it, yes? I wondered who all the people decorating stuff in November/early December were!

Mehitabel6 · 27/12/2014 19:25

This is what I really don't understand! People put them up way, way, too early and then want them down when you actually get to Christmas! If you had waited until the week before you wouldn't feel that way.

Mehitabel6 · 27/12/2014 19:27

the answer next year is to put them up after 20th and then you can actually do Christmas!

raltheraffe · 27/12/2014 19:28

Mine went before I went to bed on Christmas day.

sillymillyb · 27/12/2014 19:29

Oh good! Mine are coming down tomorrow too. I can't wait to get back to usual, I only put the tree up on the 22nd too. I just want to move on now!

Hurr1cane · 27/12/2014 19:30

Mine were down today and I only put them up Christmas Eve so not everyone who takes them down asap puts them up way too early.

mistymorningmemories · 27/12/2014 19:32

They've only been up 10 days so I'm not an early decoration offender! They just take up so much room and I'd love to open the curtains without straddling a Christmas tree! I think I must fall into the misery camp!!

I LOVE Christmas, not sick of the decorations at all but I am not Christian and so take them down once my idea of Christmas being over is here. MY Christmas runs from the beginning of December to the end of December.

madamginger · 27/12/2014 19:33

Mine went up on the 17th and I'm taking them down tomorrow. It blocking the window and my living room is really dark.

Enjoyingmycoffee1981 · 27/12/2014 19:33

I put mine up relatively late (16th), and keen to get then down. Will do before new year I think. I love the feeling of clean tidy space, and a Christmas tree and decorations feels like clutter once Christmas is actually over.

Mehitabel6 · 27/12/2014 19:34

If they went up really late I can't see why they need to come down. Probably better not to bother in the first place!

Writerwannabe83 · 27/12/2014 19:34

Mine went up on the 21st and came down today Smile

Nope, YANBU at all. We're taking ours down tomorrow. Today has been the last day of our celebrations and our two year old is exhausted from four straight days of excitement, plus the busy period beforehand, so we figured that taking the trimmings down would be a good end to Christmas and help him settle back into his normal routine.

IWillOnlyEatBeans · 27/12/2014 19:37

Ours came down today! House feels lovely and clean and tidy. No one minded - in fact the DSs enjoyed rampaging around in all the extra space!

Hurr1cane · 27/12/2014 19:37

Why is it better not to bother in the first place? What a strange thing to say. It's a lovely tradition putting the decs up Christmas Eve and preparing for Father Christmas. Makes it magical.

Then the day after Boxing Day we take it all down and find places for the new toys and games, then play them all.

It's lovely. Not pointless.
