AIBU?

To have forgotten to by DH an Xmas card

I know it's bad but I've been dashing around like a blue arsed fly since November. Everyone else got their cards via the last post on Saturday, presents are done but I stone cold forgot a card for DH - he insists it's fine as he forgot to buy a first wedding anniversary card but I still feel guilty. Grrr I usually love Christmas but it's been a real slog this year (dreams of taking myself off to a spa come January)

You buy your husband a Christmas card?
Can you not just leer 'I really love you', over the Buck's Fizz?

I never buy dh a card. Tbf we never buy each other gifts either. Christmas here is about food for us, gifts for the kids.

I've been married for 45 years and I've never got my husband a Christmas card.

You have two full days to buy a card, I thought that Christmas cards were for people you don't see in person very often.

I wouldnt worry about it.

My parents havent bought a card for each other in years

They bought each other a card 10 years ago then the same ones go up every year

Yep, that's why there's a big section of husband/wife cards...
I wouldn't worry, either buy him one now or chalk it up to experience, it's not Christmas yet so you haven't forgotten yet, just a wee delay!

YANBU. I don't bother with a Christmas card to anyone living in my house, nor anyone who gets a gift.

My father used to send me out every year to buy his card to my mother.

Aw. DH and I do xmas cards for each other, it's cute! My parents do it as well.

It's only the 22nd. Oh and M&S have their big special flashy cards at half price right now. Grin

Unfortunately we usually exchange cards on the morning of the 22nd before heading off to spend Christmas with family and whilst I can just about grab a petrol station card, he'll be waiting in the car and it won't be very subtle (or well chosen). We've always done cards though I think he'd like the leery Buck's Fizz idea.

Loads of people buy their spouse a card...are the puzzled faces above for real?! Huge selection in the shops every year...doesn't mean you have to buy one, of course. I always do, for the record.

I don't go into card shops, have never bought my husband a card of any description and have never noticed in in anybody else's house .

DH gives me a Christmas card every year. Every single year I look at it and think "why have you bought me a Christmas card? I haven't bought you one...." I just don't get it. Don't buy them for the DC either. I also don't subscribe to the named recipient type card either. Not my bag. But in answer to your AIBU, just go buy one tomorrow?

I think shop bought cards are a huge waste of money. I really love homemade cards that children do using art supplies at home unprompted.

My family knows not to expect Christmas cards, I donate the money to charity.

I simply dont get the dilemma.

  1. Nip to shops
  2. Butpy card
  3. Sigh
