I know, it's the DM. Sorry. And yeah, a dummy aged 3 isn't ideal. But really, maybe the child never watches tv and only eats organic lentils (for some reason I think this is what I should aspire to as a parent). Poor kid.

(Awaits all the "I don't click on a DM link" people who will pile onto the thread!!)

LePetitMarseillais · 25/10/2014 18:58

She's still in danger of having having her teeth and speech compromised even if her parents are millionaires and she's dressed in designer clothes.

I hate seeing over 2s with dummies.Sorry.

WobbilyFang · 25/10/2014 19:02

I don't think it's good for her. I just think that all parents do things that aren't perfect and just because she's in the public eye then V and DB are being judged for it (or just VB??).

I suppose the flip side is that their fame gives them the benefit of all that cash though. Judgement is the price you pay.

A judgemental article in the Daily Mail?

Well tickle me pink and call me Cedric!

WobbilyFang · 25/10/2014 19:05

Right I'm now getting on my feminist high horse. It says 'Victoria Beckham was yesterday accused of stunting her daughter’s speech and putting her teeth at risk of damage by still letting her use a dummy.'
They also use a pic of DB holding Harper with a dummy. But it's VB's fault Harper uses it.

YABU.

I hate seeing children over 2 with dummies no matter how rich their parents are.

A 4 year old I know still has one and it has severely compromised her speech. She talks like a 2 year old. It's awful.

Tiredmumno1 · 25/10/2014 19:05

I don't think it's anybody else's business tbh but they have to come up with some ridiculous crap to be all high and mighty about. That's boring journalism for you.

They'll never get bored of giving everyone a running commentary on what the Beckham's do, I think they should be allowed a bit of a private life, no matter how famous they are, they are still humans.

ElliotLovesGrub · 25/10/2014 19:05

Yanbu. I thought that when I saw it.

indigo18 · 25/10/2014 19:07

They probably don't give two hoots about The Daily Mail's opinion, just as I don't give two hoots about the Beckhams. They can afford the best orthodontic treatment if necessary.

Chippednailvarnish · 25/10/2014 19:08

Oh Harper's their 4th child, I would think they are pretty secure in their ability to parent.

I don't understand why anyone is even slightly interested in whether someone else's child had a dummy or not.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 25/10/2014 19:11

When I've seen Harper's picture in the papers she's not had a dummy in her mouth in every shot, it might be a rare thing, who knows?

She's had 4 children, I think she knows the score.

WyrdByrd · 25/10/2014 19:12

I haven't clicked on the link, but I think yanbu.

It's a snapshot for goodness sake! It may be that still let her have a dummy occasionally if she's overtired, upset or under the weather and this is one of those occasions.

My DD had one at bedtime until she was over four, and it certainly wasn't for lack of trying to get it off her. Obviously it's not ideal but there is such a thing as common sense.

raltheraffe · 25/10/2014 19:13

You aspire as a parent to someone who feeds children organic lentils? That is a new one on me.

socially · 25/10/2014 19:14

I would say, who fucking cares?

But then, I would say that to most of the crap that's in the "news", and I'm not just talking about the DM.

LuckyLopez · 25/10/2014 19:14

I hate the quote 'if a mother allows her toddler'

Yes of course, father has no say. All the mother's fault!

Bambambini · 25/10/2014 19:15

Amazing what passes for news these days.

Aherdofmims · 25/10/2014 19:15

Well, it probably isn't good for her, but I would question whether it is anyone's business but their family's. So YANBU - not clicked on the link though.

Eaghoul · 25/10/2014 19:15

Ugh, "pregnancy expert Clare Bayam Cook" !

It's unfair to say it's all VB's fault but I guess that's the Daily Fail for you.

Eaghoul · 25/10/2014 19:16

*Byam

WobbilyFang · 25/10/2014 19:19

I aspire to feed my child ONLY organic lentils. I won't believe it when the HV tells me he is malnourished. But they are organic!

Findhector · 25/10/2014 19:24

Nice little dig at VB for being a successful businesswoman there, too.

"In the past Mrs Beckham, who is regularly seen out and about with her children, has admitted feeling guilty about leaving them behind when she goes to work."

YANBU.

She is a beautiful little girl. But I do think she's too old for a dummy especially during the day and she needs to be put down on the ground to walk instead of being carried.

After all she must nearly weigh the same as her poor mother!

NickiFury · 25/10/2014 19:41

Who cares? mine had dummies till three and their teeth and speech are fine. Meh.

helenenemo · 25/10/2014 19:42

YANBU. It's just judgement towards them for being in the public eye.

It's also not true that it affects speech/teeth. Just a line.
