I thought maybe you were thinking about people who poo on them while their significant other lies underneath. Scat love lite, if you will.

Oh, from your Fred title I thought you meant my coffee table. It's wooden, with a glass top inlay bit. I inherited it off my nan so you would have been unreasonable, but dining tables - yanbu.

You are not wrong. We used to have one and I cleaned it after every meal. It still always looked dirty.
And no we never pooed on it!

Dining tables? They are useful if you've got a small room, they take up less space visually than a solid table. They aren't my taste though. They always look greasy to me.

Eurgh, we had one in last rented flat. It lived under a tablecloth for 2 years, the ugly arse of a thing.

The landlord removed the ugly as fuck glass coffee table when we moved into the new place at our request.

That cat photo is utterly bizarre

We have one in our current house. All the glass with small children makes me nervous. That and like Queenmools, it never look clean even when it is. (thankfully there are no thighs to be seen as I use placemats. Great big placemats).

Noooo! I have a glass-topped dining table and it's lovely! We do usually put a tablecloth over it when we have people round for dinner though so it doesn't get scratched with metal cutlery. It's also good because as Squeezy says, it takes up less visual space.

We had a massive one once. Sold it on ebay for 99p and was glad to see the back of it. We would have paid for the poor buyer to take it away. YANBU. Hideous things.

Loud and proud here too Comito Grin

After endless liquid and food spills on lovely wooden tables I got so pig sick of trying to keep the wood from being destroyed and bought a glass table. A quick wipe down deals with spills, and a glass spray at the end of the meal (a favourite job of the DCs) and it's so easy to look after.

We have a glass kitchen table AND a glass dining room table!! Although e do use mats on the dining table. I like a glass table - can easily see the dc kicking each other underneath it. Takes seconds to wipe over and isn't damaged by heat / water marks.

I don't like them. Had one once in a rental apartment. i spent hours trying to keep the bloody thing clean and fingerprint free.

We have a glass topped table (but it's translucent glass, so you can't see your legs through it, as you are eating).

I love it, aksherly!

YR sooooo BU. So there.

Coffe tables an utter pain because you have to clear all the junk off it and polish it properly, not just wipe off one tea ring. It's also a total dust magnet.

They do look nice when properly cleaned, though.

Love the cats! I don't know what I thought the underneath of a cat sat on a table looked like, but it's kind of weird.

I also instantly thought of pooing, I can't see a glass table without thinking about that since someone told me about it. So it would put me off my sausages.

But also, I know of someone who was badly injured from falling onto and breaking a glass coffee table, so I'd never get one as I'm over-anxious about that kind of thing. Seeing people's thighs would be the last of my worries.

Best cat pic ever.

I don't like clear glass but I really like glass on top of wooden tables, no need for coasters or mats and easily cleaned.

I am not a fan. My neighbours have a glass patio table. It's frosted but still, glass table outside is just asking for trouble in my opinion.

Love love love my posh big round glass dining table. Not difficult to clean if you are blessed with dust blindness. When absolutely necessary, just a squirt or two of window cleaner and dry off with kitchen paper. Easy peasy Smile
