AIBU?

To think that I don't need an Apple Watch

Apparently you feel a pulse on your wrist whenever you get a text / email / twitter alert etc. I assume you can turn it off but it would drive me mental if it was left on. I would never get anything done.

Sounds bloody irritating to me. Is there a reason you have to have one?

I think the iWatch is pure gimmicky gadgetry. And I say that as someone that prefers Apple.

If you want the iPhone or iPad, that's fine but the watch seems like showing off to me.

I think I do need one Hmm. This thread may be good for me.

MaidofStars- Wouldn't you be afraid of wrecking it?? We all know it's not going to be cheap and I'd be afraid of scratching it/knocking it as you can't put it in a case.

When I read the title, I thought you were going to complain about the Lunch Police telling what you had to include in your DCs lunchbox!!!

Who says you have to have an Apple watch?

I am now. Good good, it's becoming less attractive a purchase...

No one says I have to have but I've been thinking of getting a Garmin Forerunner and DH has told me that the Apple watch probably does all that and takes my pulse.

I have a perfectly nice watch. I don't need another.

I love my iPad and iPhone and Apple products in general but even if I had the money I would give this one a miss, for a start my record with watches isn't good Blush and it looks too big and clunky for my tastes.
However my inner tech geek is rather loud when I look at it...

I like to track my heart rate when running/cycling etc so would consider it if the heart rate monitor function is accurate but similar devices have had bad reviews in that respect so Im not holding my breath

Pop it down your pants and the buzzing might become easier to cope with Grin

Hmm, there was a time when I thought I didn't need a smartphone either.

think how much extra profit they can extract if we can be convinced that each phone must be partnered with a wrist mounted gadget

I've got a Garmin Forerunner 210 and its brilliant Grin, also it comes with a chest strap that monitors your heart rate. Oh and its waterproof, I'm pretty sure anything made by Apple can't boast that feature!

There is no part of me that would want an apple watch - if I am out for a run/walk, I don't want people phoning, texting, emailing me all the bloody time, I want to run and sort out all those little problems in life while I've got the time to myself!

I have the same garmin Toolong, I like it but find the chest strap a pain to use, I looked at the samsung gearfit but the reviews were pretty bad

Garmin are the best for gps watches Imo. Not sure about the apple watch, seems like an irritation if it vibrates or what not when you have a message.

And you don't want to know your pulse really when exercising, it'll be high, that's enough to knowGrin

I have a heart rate monitor with my garmin that is gathering dust somewhere.

Suzannewithaplan - funnily enough the chest strap has caused me some trouble too, but I assumed it was because my ahem chest is rather large, and that caused the strap to rub. You can actually buy a specific sports bra that the heart rate monitor clips on to so the strap is surplus to requirement Smile

I customised my own sportss bra to accomodate the heart rate monitor but I still find sometimes it doesnt work too well or is just uncomfortble :(
no really I DO want to know my heart rate, its a good indication of exercise intensity and I like to have it in an optimal zone

I am a technophobe... When I read 'Apple Watch' in discussions of the day I thought it might be some campaign to check if older, traditional varieties of apples were available in your supermarket.... Blush

I never remember to take jewellery/watches off when I get in the shower.
Something like that would only last a week.

also very handy to be able to keep track of resting heart rate and see if there's any change to max heart rate

I didn't need a mobile as I phoned my friends, arranged to meet up and chat. Then i didn't need a mobile to text, just for emergencies, as I spoke to my friends. I didn't need an iPod as I didn't have 5,000 tunes. You see where I'm going with this...!

I saw "Apple Watch" on Discussions of the Day and thought it must be something like Spring Watch with Bill Oddie or Lambing Live with Kate Humble.

I only clicked on the thread to try and understand how the BBC could justify our licence fees being used to make a programme monitoring the ripening of this year's apple crop. Confused
