To be upset at getting a slanket for my wedding anniversary

Seventh wedding anniversary (altho we have been together 20 years and are v happy). I forgot completely. He bought me a slanket (it's a fleece blanket with sleeves). What does this say about us??

DSis's husband bought her a slanket on their first Christmas together. She bought him a telescope that he had always wanted.

I am not exaggerating when I say it was a massive nail in his coffin and they didn't make it to their first anniversary!

I should also add that when DSis was upset and complained that this was not the way she wanted to be seen after only a few months of marriage, her husband went out and bought a fishnet body stocking from a sex shop instead!

Ha! DH bought me a slanket for my (summer) birthday, 3 months after DS was born.

In his head, it was a cosy thing for me to snuggle up with while relaxing in the evening.

For me? Well, I cried. He returned it.

I probably would actually like and use a slanket. But that wasn't what I needed shortly post baby. I needed reminding that I was attractive and continued to exist as a person in my own right.

So, it's not really about the gift.

Fwiw, unfortunately my reaction has destroyed DH's confidence to buy me even a slightly risky present. So you might like to bear that in mind before reacting.

Yes the traditional gift is wool so that is what he was thinking. So he did put thought into it, which more than I did!!
