It's the Daily Fail so don't click it if you don't want to.

Couple pop baby down by cliff edge for photo

I mean really? What were they thinking! The picture makes me feel ill.....were they just stupid or were they asking for trouble?

I think everyone is stupid sometimes.

Perhaps some people are stupid a bit more often Wink

If they had a brain transplant it would reject them . . .

I was told by a local park keeper that he had to chase a family - with a pram - off the frozen Serpentine. They were taking photos. Its never even fully frozen (so a huge hole in the middle).

Yes, some people just don't think.

Thanks MrsWinni, that's a relief! :)

I don't know how they get by! Saying that...look at my neighbour leaving a broken oil burner with a candle in it...(lit) and the broken burner filled with Comfort fabric softener unattended in the communal hall! Bit dim.

I want the family to pop up on social media defending themselves! I do! I want them to try to say the risk was worth the shot!

50% of people are below average intelligence. Sometimes it's more obvious than others.

That photo makes me feel faint.

Really Lou? Where'd you get that info? Shock if it's 50% then it's not average is it!?

Yep, it's right. IQ is based on standardised tests and a bell curve. 100 is the 'average' with 50% on either side.

OMG thats Pulpit rock.. Been there. Really really scary. i cant believe people don't fall off every day.

But there are 'events' held up there - dancing competitions, there are extreme ironing photos from up there...... But I personally draw the line at baby crawling.

(and of course 50% of people are below average intelligence OP! same as 50% are above......)

I was about to come and defend those who have a lower IQ, who perhaps have learning difficulties etc. Then I clicked on the link and YEP, some people are just stupid!!

Those photos actually make me feel physically ill.

This morning. A dual carriageway. A father on the phone, with a small child (five or so). They cross the first carriageway, heading for the bus stop. The bus approaches, so the child sprints towards it. Squeal of brakes from a car, yelling from the father, the child stops just in time. The father goes back to his phone call.

If you could get ethical and legal approval, which you couldn't, there's a PhD in looking at phone records of parents and seeing those that use their phone most mornings and afternoons while taking and collecting children, rather than (and I know this is a radical idea) actually talking to their children, rather than yammering on to their besties. I'd be willing to bet fifty quid that there's a negative correlation between 0830-0900 and 1500-1545 phone use by parents located between home and school, and educational outcomes.

No, 50% of people aren't below, because although it's a bell curve, 'average' is classified as a range, not just the number 100.

In any case, loads of people will sit on the 100 marker, so there can't be 50% below it.

Not that it matters.

It does seem rather risky. I have to say, I couldn't even stand in the middle of that thing, let alone near the edge.

If you scroll down that article, there is a short video of a gymnast performing right on the edge: fascinating to watch with fingers over the eyes!

I hate statistics like that. They haven't tested everyone, I certainly wasn't tested for any survey so that should say 50% of people surveyed, not the whole world. I doubt half of the universe has a below average IQ.

Anyhoo I cringed so hard at that photo, made me feel queasy. I almost had a panic attack when DH was holding DS (then aged eleven months) at the top of the Eiffel Tower and DH was holding him and there's netting there too. Oh it's just too much risk. Awful.
