To think dss shouldn't be playing his guitar?

DSS is 18. Just done A levels and has been given a guitar as a present.

Now I am all for this but he plays it constantly. The din is awful and it's the same song over and over. When he's playing I have to yell to talk to younger dd, can't watch tv , make phone calls or anything. I literally feel a prisoner in my own home!

Is it an electric guitar? If it is, there should be a socket on the amp so he can plug his headphones into that, and you won't have to listen to the din...

Can you ask him to play during certain times or maybe about two hours a day? Some sort of compromise, he's old enough to get that.

I didn't give him the gift either! It isn't that he isn't good at it either, he actually isn't bad as I've told him over and over but can any of you honestly say you wouldn't be a bit frazzled after 6 solid hours of the same chorus of the same (loud!) song!

Strict rules about practising instruments here- not in the living room without asking and getting permission from everyone and stop when asked. Otherwise, bedroom. And if it can be turned down, then turn it down. And for an electric guitar, headphones if it's annoying to anyone,

Guitars are quiet, surely? Eldest son is learning acoustic, husband has an electric but practises without the amp.

You need to get him Rocksmith, he can plug into that instead.

He stopped eventually when dd started crying as it was hurting her heart. Dss thought this was a compliment to his skills. Hmmmmm ok then!
