AIBU?

to think O2 should cancel my contract as they can't provide signal in this area?

Yes, I know this is my second thread in as many minutes, but we've just got broadband sorted in our new house!!

Anyway, we've moved to an area where I cannot get ANY signal on my o2 phone...it's a right bugger.

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask them to cancel my contract without any payments due on my part because of this, do you? I've been with them since I had my first phone in 1997 and I've had the same number since then, it's the only number that all of our friendship group know by heart!

So, what do you think?

Well Orange / EE cancelled my contract for the same reasons - it's worth a try....

Meant to add I said they had breached their end of the contract by failing to provide me with a signal...

Mine is the same. They won't do anything other than suggest you go elsewhere to use your phone or if you change to a business contract at twice the price they'll give you a booster.

As a result as soon as my contract is up I'm switching so its very short sighted of them.

I've cancelled a contract in this way as basically they weren't able to provide the service I was paying for, but it depends whether it is a new contract or one where you've changed address, what level of coverage they have reported on line, whether you are now in the bottom of a valley. After all its not their fault if you move to the outer Hebrides.

I lived in a town centre, and a well documented string of calls saying my signal had dropped out as a mast had a long term technical problem.

This happened to me with 3. The cancelled it no questions and with a very big apology for not being able to help.

Call them I'm sure it'll be fine

Well online it didn't say it was this bloody bad!!

Kitty - I'd love to call them! Ha ha!

Must get some skype credit and give them a bell, or get all the kids in the car, drive to the top of the hills and call them from there...sigh.

I really hope they'll cancel the contract for me, this is so tedious.

Thanks for your replies x

I have just done that with Vodafone.

They checked on their system, agreed the signal here is crap and gave me my PAC code there and then, no penalties. I have had the same number and contract with them since 96, so I had no idea what would happen. But I too got a big apology and they wished me well with, and gave me info on how to find, a new provider.

Not really massively helpful but can you download the TuGo app in your phone until it is sorted? I live in an area of poor signal for all of the phone companies but this app means if I have an internet connection I can still get texts & calls.

Have you tried using the Tu Go app to make calls until you get your contract cancelled?

I moved to an area with no signal (I`m on 3). I was given after far too many phone calls a free home signal box. I can now use my phone fine in the house. This may be an alternative option?

02 refused to help me when this happened to me; their reasoning was that they were providing the service I was paying for and it wasn't their fault I couldn't receive it.

I had to keep a useless phone for about a year, I couldn't afford to pay off the whole contract there and then aswell as buying a new one from a

Sent too soon! ..as buying a new phone contract from a different provider. I'd been with 02 for years, their support is awful and they don't treat their customers fairly at all. When their network went down I know lots of people who phoned to complain - their solutions varied, some people got money back, others got free months/texts etc. it seemed those who shouted loudest got the most, I really can't abide a company who promotes this kind of attitude.

Are you sure you will get signal with any other mobile providers? Where we live there is no signal on any network so O2 actually is the best option as we can use TuGo as others have suggested as it goes over your wifi rather than the mobile network.

3, T mobile and orange are patchy here, unless you stand by DD1's window.

That's why I always tell people use the landline number first.

But, there's a difference between patchy indoors and no signal at all anywhere in your house or garden. If you have no signal at all, I think a refund is in order.

I'm regretting staying with O2 and trying to work out if I can afford to pay off the 20 months remaining on my contract. It's fine at home but we go to Sussex a lot and I get no service half the time and no wifi so TuGo is no good.

Good luck with getting your contract sorted out.

OP if you can't call O2, try tweeting - big companies seem to respond on twitter quickly and positively. And I think they should cancel your contract - you've been loyal to them for 17 years, and are only leaving because they can't provide you with the service you need.
